Missed Air France Flight, Only to Die in Car Crash After narrow escape, fate catches up with Italian traveler
A woman who dodged death when she and her husband narrowly missed Air France Flight 447 before it plunged into the Atlantic Ocean, killing all 228 aboard, was killed in a car accident just over a week later. Photos: French Plane Downed in Ocean Storm View Slideshow An Air France airliner carrying 228 people from Brazil to Paris crashed into the Atlantic after a possible lightning strike. Johanna Ganthaler a retiree from the Bolzano-Bozen province, was on vacation in Brazil with her husband Kurt when the pair miraculously missed the doomed flight to Paris. But their luck ran out on an Austrian road earlier this week when their car swerved into the path of an oncoming truck outside the town of Kufstein, the Times (U.K.) reported. Kurt Ganthaler was badly hurt in the accident. Flight 447 disappeared from radar shortly after leaving Rio de Janeiro and is believed to have broken apart shortly after it left the airport in Brazil on May 31 with 228 people on board. Some three dozen bodies have been fished out of the ocean where the Airbus jet plunged into the water. A nuclear-powered French submarine has begun scouring the seafloor for any sign of the black box, which could hold the key to determining what felled the plane. The Ganthalers flew out of the country on a flight the day after the jet went missing. http://www.nbcchicago.com...1#comments unlucky7 reincarnated

Any references to Lake Erie were accidental and innocent on the part of the English assassin! [Edited 6/12/09 0:59am] Well look whom I found dipping their toe in the murky waters! :eyeroll: At least offer me a damn cup of coffee!

Nahhh i just think it proves how completely random life is, sometimes good people die young sometimes bad people live a mighty long time I think so. This story reminds me of a similar story around the 9-11 time. Wasn't there someone who survived the attack on the twin towers or one of those planes crashing and later on got killed in another plane accident? I'm sure it happened because I was thinking, how can someone be so lucky and after that have so much bad luck, it's scary.

I don't believe in coincidence, everything happens for a reason. The car accident is not a repercussion of her having 'cheated' death it was merely bad luck.

everything happens for a reason/ merely bad luck. Aren't those two separate theories? Well look whom I found dipping their toe in the murky waters! :eyeroll: At least offer me a damn cup of coffee!

everything happens for a reason/ merely bad luck. Aren't those two separate theories? I'll expand to clarify. Basically there were reasons behind her not making the flight that day, and then the events that lead up to her car accident are accountable hence leading to a stroke of bad luck (meaning misfortune, tragedy, adversity, catastrophe, bad break etc) for this woman.

The car accident is a direct repercussion of her having missed the flight. If she had been on the flight she would not have been on that road in Italy a week later. That's not bad luck. I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.
