100+ KEYS TO A SUCCESSFUL RELATIONSHIP

Ok this is the sister to the "100+ Relationship Mistakes" thread, (thx CJ). So orgers, what are the keys to a healthy and successful relationship? hmmm This goes for love, friendship, family and work. This thread may take a little more thought because while it is easy to see what went or is wrong, finding the solution and making it right may not be easy to see or even commit to (resolution). So let's start off on a good foot. woot!

Here we go:

A Key to a successful relationship is to love yourself first b/c then it is easier to love someone else.

Is that a euphemism for masturbation? If so, I'm in great shape for a successful relationship.

I think this is so key.

Not just because it makes things easier, but because the more you love yourself, the more you heal yourself. This means you're walking around with fewer holes and gaping wounds that you're unconsciously expecting another person to fill up and fix for you - a task that's usually just too hard for another person to do.
It's what you make it.

Another key...FORGIVENESS. Sometimes success is born out of a mistake and the willingness to learn from it and move forward. We all deserve another chance to make our relationships a success or at least the consideration.

ACCEPTANCE. if you can't accept the person you're with 100% for who they are, then you don't need to be with them.

Letting your partner talk and not interrupting them. You may not agree with what they say but at least you will both know where the other is coming from. Then make mad sticky hot jungle sex.

Sharing everything...none of that "this is my food, that's your food" or separate bank accounts. Sharing is a sign of trust, trust builds long and healthy relationships.

(but damn if it isn't hard to share) confused

but why keep money separate from your partner? are they irresponsible?
why say, don't touch this type food instead of buying enough for the both of you? I think that's why I see it as a trust issue. hmmm

Understanding.... in any relationship a partner has to be willing to have compassion towards the needs of another. You can't make someone change their entire life and make you the center of their universe. This also falls under the sharing catergory.

which leads to.....

patience, you have to be patient in dealing with someone else. Expect a few flaws, ones you can live with because no one is perfect. BUT never compromise who you are and what you want in a partner. Keep a standard.

I think to never raise your voice and to be the first to say sorry in an argument even if you think you are not wrong. From time to time at least.
