Smooches;) I see your point, but I think that the health of the relationship trickles down to the kids. Putting your kids first & ignoring the relationship is one way to create a miserable household. Parents need to worry about their own health & happiness to be the best parents they can be. Put your own oxygen mask on first, so to speak. But I'm not advocating ignoring your kids so you can go on a date. In a long term relationship where the couple are both the parents to these children, YES the relationship MUST come first - you are the unified team that is the foundation of the family, your kids must understand and respect that you love each other - and they will feel comfortable in that stability. However, a single mum shacking up with a new guy probably has to have different priorities in the beginning in love stage, which will take up so much of her time and attention. | |
