Don't they already carry pepper spray? Night sticks or whatever they are called?

Pepper spray in the eyes and beatings with a baton (nightstick) are no more humane - and possibly can cause more harm - than tasers.

Where did I say they were any better? lol

I simply asked if they had them.

Ivy, I'm 100% with you on this one and some of the responses in here just make me disbelief

For one, dude was easily twice her size. Yes she was being a bitch, but you mean to tell me he couldn't have spun her around, cuffed her ass with the quickness, and tossed her in the back of the cop car?

2.how did he know she didn't have a heart condition? She could have wound up dying there on the side of the road from that shot of the taser.

3.If she'd dared him to punch her in the face and he'd done it, would some of you be saying the same thing? To me, there's little difference between a cop tasing an old woman or choking out a teenager with no cause.

Also, there was a pretty obvious edit in that video we were shown. I don't know what she did to end up having to get out of the car, but even if she'd hit the cop, he was big enough that he could have overpowered her without having to resort to the taser. I'm not saying she was in the right, but neither was he.disbelief

1. I'm no legal expert, but he would need a cause to arrest her, otherwise I think it's unlawful imprisonment.
2. He took a BIG gamble on that one! But I guess if you're wearing a pacemaker or something you would think twice about hulking out on a cop.
3. Neither scenario is appropriate, and I assume that this guy is getting hell from all this.

Moral of the story is STILL; behave yourself when a cop pulls you over. I've been forgiven for speeding TWICE by cops, and I would guess that my humble and apologetic demeanor went a long way towards that. As a young (at the time) Hispanic male, I can assure you that if I'd started cussin' and getting rowdy with them, I might have probably ended up in the back of the squad car.

shrug

So if you rule out the tasers, the pepper spray, and the batons...what are you left with? Reverse psychology?

The officer was more wrong than she was, he didn't have to use the force that he did even tho she was very stubborn. That taser could have stopped her heart. I don't put anything past a cop from Texas, nasty suckers. mad

shake OH HELL NAW!

I'd rather be met with a taser than a night stick ANY DAY!!

Listen, I'm not saying I know of something better, I'm just saying that tasers shouldn't be used at all, they have killed people in this country and they are advertised as safe when they are not safe at all.

Geez... lol

This cop would've come out shitty no matter.
He wouldn't have been any kind of hero to let her get away, he would've been ridiculed as "the cop who couldn't handle a lil' ol lady".

I really can't believe folk are stickin up for that twatty old bag.

She thought she was above the law. Plain and simple.
If that was some drunk on Cops folk would be clappin and laughin and shit.

And it's worse cuz she's not in an altered state, she's just downright Assholish.

My point is that arguments and violence is not the answer!

So, what? He should have just let her go?

No he should have used his strength to cuff her and place her in the police van until she calmed the fuck down. If he couldn't take on a 72 year old then he should be in a different occupation. Using the taser was completely unnecessary!

As funny and hilarious it is on some level to see this shit, I totally agree. He didn't need to taze the senior. He could have detained her without going to that extreme. But what do you expect with the law enforcement in this country anyway? 80% of them wield their authority irresponsibly. With that being said, the video is still funny to watch.

No one's sticking up for her. Just saying that the cop didn't need to use the amount of force he did to take her down. There's a difference. shrug

Damn... that grandma was being a bitch.

What was he to do? If he had physically tried to restrain her I think things would have gotten a lot worse... let's not forget they were on a highway... a dangerous place to have a physical struggle...

Maybe he should have knocked her out with a left upper cut?

Shoot her knee caps?

Perform some Jiu-Jitsu on her?

Folk might not be sticking up for her personality but they are as far as how the events went down physically.

Did you see her succumb to him in any way when he tried to stop her?
There would've been no way to make her follow orders without him doing something that would've been considered forceful by her and others.

She would've cried fowl regardless and just because she's old and a woman and he's a big guy there would've been people backing her up that he was in the wrong either way.

I really can't either. I mean, who the hell does she think she is? With that sort of delusion going on in her stupid little head, she shouldn't be on the road AT ALL. I hope they pull her license, I don't need idiots like her on the road with me.
