I need to move!

I'm sick of my building! In the last year and a half, the fire alarm has gone off exactly 4 times!!
The first time, I wasn't home. I came home to find broken glass on the sidewalk and a huge smoke stain up the side of the building. I ran up the stairs to find my apartment's front door axed in, my hallway smoke stained and sopping wet. Luckily, everything in my apartment was OK, including my kitty.
It was a scary thing.
The 2nd time, the stupid speed-induced boys who live on the first floor's couch started on fire. Oh. Did I mention it happened at 3am? I was woken up at 3am by the alarm. Had to pack up my kitty and get the hell outside. This was only about 2 months ago.
About a month ago, I received letter under my door from the caretaker stating that the alarm was pulled again on Friday night (while I was out), and there was no fire, and that whoever did it would be evicted.
And lo and behold tonight.
I was sleeping very, very soundly, when I awoke to the alarm, yet again. I looked out the window, saw the firetrucks outside, and proceeded to get dressed and tuck my kitty into her carrier. By the time I got downstairs, the alarm had stopped and the firemen were leaving my bulding. No smell of smoke in the air, which I suppose I should be thankful for. But DAMN! A girl needs her beauty sleep!!

I need to find a new home...

hug Thanks, kitty.

I have a feeling that it's the stupid drug-addicted party-boys on the first floor. evil I could be biased, but this is getting annoying. I live in nice neighborhood. In a beautiful building.

sigh

I like it here in the suburbs of St. Paul while you are a Minneapolis girl.

Too true. Minneapolis people stay on one side and St Paul people the other, and never the twain shall meet.

Not sure why. It's just that way.

Well a lot of my friends live in the Uptown area so quite frequently I find myself in your neck of the woods.

Yes, but that's because Uptown's cool. wink

I rarely make it to St Paul. Except when I have to work over there. Although it is a beautiful city...

Carrie, that's horrible! esp. since you dig your building and neighborhood so much. You shouldn't have to move because of those stupid boys.

Be sure to keep yourself - and your kitty! - safe. hug

you should look into getting renter's insurance.

i think i paid around $240 last year to insure my apartment ($80,000). luckily i did, because it was broken into a couple of months later and around $11,000 worth of stuff was taken while i was helping my friend to move all day...

though, that won't help with your beauty sleep (not that you need any anyways)...

Sorted.

I need to move also...roomate's husband has a penchant for showing up at odd hours and starting a fight, which inevitably leads to the cops being called and those assholes banging on my door...sucks cause I like my house and neighborhood...and the NY real estate market sucks big time right now...

I would LOVE to visit Hawaii, but Minneapolis is my home. I don't even mind the winter, as much as I complain about the cold. I like the change of seasons and you can't have a true fall, or enjoy the beauty of spring without enduring the dead cold of a Minnesota winter.
I just need to find a new apartment. Which I will do when my lease is up in June.

Think mostly everyone has that same problem they need to move because of neighbors, roommates or just the neighborhood it self.

It time for me to find another home I go through this every other year. My family call me a GYPSIE because I move so much. It's really going to flip everyone out when they find out that I will be moving out of state in about 18 months and counting.

I hear you. The thing is, I always thought I would be over this BS at the age I'm at now. I've suffered through crappy apartments, bad landlords, nasty neighbors (my very first apartment, we called the police on the people next to us several times for domestic violence), loud neighbors and roommates I didn't get along with.

I finally got a decent apartment in a beautiful building in one of my favorite neighborhoods, all by myself.

And now I have to find another one. sad

Oh well.
