Sometimes he has me in hysterics.

Sometimes, I just can't stand the sight of him.

I liked him a lot in The Truman Show .

He could easily fit into my family,
as one of my goofy brothers.

I know The Majestic isn't one of his comedys but I liked that movie of his.
Funny thing is, in some of the scenes,
I expected him to be goofy even though I knew it was a serious movie.
It's just that I was so used to him being in comedy.

lol

I am not familiar with all his work

However i think he was exceptional in 'External sunshine Of A spotless Mind". i would like to see him in more straight roles like this. One of my favourite movies.

Also, Dumb & Dumber never fails to make me laugh.

Some of his movies are assinine to the extreme, but it's not really his fault...

He is a very versatile comedian with a face of rubber and a cartoon-like personality, so he's great.

I agree, I love love loved Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I was quite young when I saw the Truman Show, but I recall adoring it as well, it might not have aged well for me though. And Man on the Moon I thought was also very underappreciated.

My opinion is he doesn't get enough credit for his acting ability.

I would have to say No to this...he is funny, but sadly his form of humor is getting old. IMO....

I love him, I even read a biography of him - "Jim Carrey - The Joker is Wild" by Martin Knelman, I recommend it. It's great fun and it shows a lot of other sides of him too.

It has been my experience that a lot of really GOOD comedians develop humor and stupidness out of a lot of pain. I saw him in a made for TV film a looooong time ago and External Sunshine. He was excellent. Very funny folks usually use humor to cope and makes for intimacy issues in personal lives. He's been married a few times...wonder if he n Jenny will last.

Wonndering if my post was necessary.....

I can take him or leave him.
Mostly leave him, but I do think he will do a "Robbin Williams" and end up with an Oscar one day.

The Cable Guy is one of my favorite comedic movies of all time.

I like Jim Carrey's comedy, but I LOVE his dramatic roles. Watching him in Man on the Moon breaks my heart every time. Brilliant. love

Eternal Sunshine is one of the worst movies ever.

The Truman Show is pretty awesome in concept and execution.

Bruce Almighty was great, as was Dick & Jane. Never saw all of Liar Liar, and didn't see any of the Andy Kaufman movie.

Ace Ventura and Mask movies were good, funny, but after a while it's just too much.

I'm with Imago though:
Sometimes he has me in hysterics.

Sometimes, I just can't stand the sight of him.

I haven't really seen him be hilarious since Liar Liar, but I saw a little bit of Horton Hear a Who, and he was pretty decent, even without the physical aspect. The material has to be good, too, and stuff like Bruce Almighty just isn't that great. He can't carry it all with his acting.

I haven't thought he was great in serious roles, but have enjoyed the movies themselves, especially Eternal Sunshine. But I find him a bit hard to take seriously.
