Ghost Stories

Okay... since TheCherryLoon started a thread on Ouija Boards, I thought I would start one about Spirits. Has anyone had any experiences with them?

A few of mine:

In one of the houses where I grew up... every holiday where we had a large gathering of family, the toilet would back up... all day long, whether anyone used it or not. One year we decided just not to use it at all, and the thing just started backing up all over the place. Never failed, and to this day, every holiday that toilet backs up... my aunt that has the Ouija Board lives in that house now.

There would always be sounds of someone walking down the stairs in that house. Man, I had some of the WORST nightmares in that house as a little girl. So, you'd think mom or dad was coming down and you go running around the corner and there would be no one there... the sounds would stop, the moment you turned away they would start again. My aunt has had the stairs removed and relocated to another part of the house and the sounds stopped.

For some reason... same house, one year a spirit got crazy with orange rinds. There would be orange rinds laying around everywhere... even if we didn't have any in the house. Perfume being sprayed when everyone was watching tv, doors slamming for no reason, things being moved and I always got blamed for it.

God, how I hated that house. A lot of scary things happened there. They never really did anything to harm anyone, it was just like they were playing jokes. Like, once they found out I was going to get into trouble for things being moved... shit was moved all the time.

The last one I will share, as I am sure I look nutty as hell right now, but it is all the truth.

My mom and dad were into a big fight one night... he was drunk and had an axe... he was coming through the dining room to get into the kitchen where we were, and he couldn't get through. He was pissed off, drunk and pissed off, thinking that we put up some sort of force field that wouldn't allow him to pass.. he kept yelling at my mom to push the button and turn it off. My mom and I got out, and she swears it was the spirits not letting him through. Of course, days later when we returned, they had obviously let him through as everything we owned was chopped up and laying in the front yard.

ooo. scary. i've been places with weird vibes but never lived in a haunted house like that, Azure!

my ghost stories are more subtle, like having memories of people past coming up, later followed by some physical, tangible reminder of them. like, thinking one morning about an uncle and then later that day being given something that belonged to him out of the blue.

maybe that's a ghost story? sometimes i think i feel the presence of those who are gone, around me. it's not scary though.

i've had dreams haunted by ghosts though

We lived in a house for a while and sometimes odd things would happen, my sis was saying how she kept hearing noises from this closet in her room. eek Sometimes you would also smell a strange perfume that none of us wore, that was odd. We didn't live there for long, but none of us missed that house. There was probably a rational explanation for everything but sometimes our imaginations would run riot.

My dad has when he was 11 yrs old

He woke one sunny spring morning when he was a kid, the sun was streaming through the curtains.Sat in a rocking chair in front of the curtains was a little old man smoking a pipe, just sat there smiling at him.My dad stared back for a few seconds and then hid under the covers, eventually he plucked up the courage to peek out again even though the creaking of the chair was still there.

The old man was still smiling as both he and the chair faded into nothing.

A few years later my dad's dad was converting the attic in te house and happened to stumble across an old tobacco box in it was a load of old pipe tobacco and a single pipe.

True that, except maybe the last paragraph, which i think my dad may have tagged on to embelish the story a bit.

I've had a lot of those too... feeling someone close to you or thinking of someone and something turns up to remind you of them once again.

That house there was the worst one. I think they follow me around or I attract them or something. Every place that I have lived in, I have had experiences with them.

Where I live now, for instance. His name is Fritz, I know that from the sale of the house. He died here 11 years ago. Anyway... he would turn the stereo up on me, it is a dial one on the receiver. So, I took the batteries out of the remote, just in case somehow something was going on with that... no luck. The thing would turn up very loud, I would go and turn it down, moments later it'd be blasting again.

He also liked to screw with my bedroom lights. Some days all of the bulbs would be working, some days one or two aren't. You would think it is was an electrical problem, but it wasn't, it was checked out.

Another time, I had to go down to the basement to do laundry and I HATE going down there as there is this CREEPY little room that is to my back when I am in front of the washer and dryer. Well... I turn all 7 lights on when I go down there. I was down there.. doing the quick check behind me every few seconds to make sure nothing was coming to get me from that room, and all of the lights went out. I raced up those stairs so fast! After I calmed down I flicked the switch to each of the lights and they all worked. You should see me fly up those stairs... I HATE that basement!

Anyway... Fritz is gone now. I got tired of the pranks and things that would happen and my grandmother told me to just tell him to go away... go home. I did, and nothing strange has happened since. All of the lights work in the bedroom as they should, no blasting stereo, and the lights are always working in the basement, unless one burns out... but not all of them go out at once anymore. smile

Another one.I was visiting my girlfriend's house at the time (7 miles away) and my mum, dad and sister all heard me say quizically "mom?".They even looked around the house for me when i didn't respond to her saying "what is it?" totally freaked them out and they told me all about it when i got home.

The cottage we lived in at the time was around 450 years old.

Also four family pets died in the one year we lived there. That was the year i had my ouija board experience too.

there once was a girl that everybody loved named MARY LOU
she was SWEET, INNOSENT, SEXY, FINE, and she liked the
HOOKER look, although she was very much a virgin.
her body was BANGIN and she had no need for makeup.
she was friendly to evereyone and never said anything
hurtfull to anyone.
a group of schoolgirls and some of the boys got together
and came up with a plan to pay a homeless fellow to rape
and murder AMRY LOU.
they took her dog out on a back road and busted it's head
in and put it out on the road, then called to tell her that her dog was hurt. when she came out of her house
one of the GIRLS was running in her direction sayin that she just heard that M L's dog was hurt and she could get a ride out there with her boyfriend.
they let her out near the dog and left her.
as she was bent over the dog, the BUM grabbed her and took her in the bushes and raped her, but he couldn't kill her.
when the kids in the car saw that he was runnin off without completing the job they were about to leave mad,
but before they could leave MARY LOU with nothing but a ripped bra on came out and saw them.
terrorized the boy stepped on the gas and ran her over.
then did the same to the BUM who hadn't got far.
one of the tires had took MARY LOU'S face off her skull.
NOW when ever some one stands in front of a mirror in the
dark and repeats her name 5 times, she reaches out to grab
the face of whoever said her name.
I AM King BAD a.k.a. BAD,
YOU EITHER WANNA BE ME, OR BE JUST LIKE ME

One day last month my wife & I were watching TV - it was about 11:00pm or so - and we heard noises from the kids' room. I went up to their room ready to scold them for fooling around. However my son was sound asleep, and it was my daughter laughing in bed.

I sat next to her and asked what she was lauging about. She hid her face shyly in the sheets and peeked out as she pointed towards the darkness. I pointed out some objects in that direction - the poster on the wall, the stuffed animals on the shelf, the piggy banks on the dresser - but she kept nodding NO and broke out giggling & laughing every now and then, still pointing towards the darkness.

The hairs on the back of my neck stood on end, and I quickly went back downstairs after tucking her back in and telling her to go to sleep.

"Why was she crying?" my wife asked.

I explained that she was in fact laughing, described what was going on, and jokingly told her that maybe a relative was visiting from beyond.

The next morning my wife spoke with her mom in Florida. She was told that her grandfather in Puerto Rico had pssed away the previous night. Around 11:00pm or so.

oh my ogd. all this talk of death has brought to mind my MOM"S true ghost story.

mom worked as a nurse in the bone marrow transplant ward at the UofM and she had about a fifty percent deathrate among her patients. this was hard on her because she got bonded to them through the course of their treatment.

she worked with one woman she liked a lot but who did poorly; the donor bone marrow refused to graft. one night mom said she awoke, thinking about her patient. now, i can't remember if she said she knew the paient was dead, but she looked at the clock and found out later it was the time when her patient had died.

I have friends who have had really horrible experiences with skincrawlers (or something along those lines, I forgot what they're called, the Native American stuff anyway) in Utah... but I'm not going to tell them because they make me shit myself. eek

Once when I was in the second grade I woke up and there was a shadow of a man on my wall (I have always slept with the same nightlight and still do whenever I'm in this house). I looked around and didn't see anyone. I watched the shadow for a few moments, I could see it breathing. Then it slowly moved off the wall into the hallway. I thought it was my dad so I went back to sleep. I woke up in the morning and asked my dad if he was in my room last night and he said no.

Some creepy stuff happens in our laundry room from time to time... the doors leading to the room will shut when nobody is near them, you will open the top to the washing machine, turn around and grab some clothes from the laundry chute, then turn back around and the top will be closed. All sorts of junk like this, but it hasn't happened in a few years so I think the presence has left.

Our house, as big and beautiful as it is, has a weirdo past. I think that may contribute to the shit that happens in here. eek

I haven't even gone into my stories concerning Santa Cruz...

sometimes, in my house, a light will go out. But then, when I change it, it works just fine. (shudder)

One time, I was boiling some water, and then I left the room, when I got back, something made the water go all over the stove, and it was bubbling really fast! (shudder)

The other day, I set my alarm for 7:00 am, and yet I didn't wake up till 11:00. I still don't remember hearing it buzz. (shudder)

Once I was watching the exorcist, when all of a sudden I heard these weird satanic noises. I quickly paused the DVD, and all of a sudden the noises stopped (shudder).

Strange but true, folks.

i agree. i've had supernatural experiences, but not really any involving ghosts.

i've made a deal with the spirit world that if they don't bother me, i won't bother them.

so far, it's worked...

I got one of my worst scares in the photo lab at my university. I was the lab monitor, and it was finals week, so I decided to stay late after I kicked all the other students out and locked the doors. It was nice working in the lab by yourself because you didnt have to bump into anyone or wait to use the processor.

For those of you who've never taken a color photo class, you have to work in almost complete darkness, because photo paper is alot more sensitive to light than B&W. All that can be on is a very very dim amber light. After being back in the lab for a while tho your eyes adjust and you can see sillouettes of everything.

I locked the door to the classroom so noone could wander in, it was about 10:00. From the moment I started printing, I kept getting the feeling someone was standing back there with me. At one point I thought for sure someone was back there playing a joke on me, it was like they were standing right by me, head near my shoulder, breeze of them walking by and everything. I ran over and turned all the lights on in the whole lab and double checked every room and printing booth. Noobody. The door to the lab was still locked.

By 1130 I couldnt take it any more. Each time as I was standing back there waiting for my print to come out of the processor, it was like someone was staring at me. My eyes were shot cuz every few seconds I kept thinking I was seeing the outline of a figure in the glow of the safelight.

I put all my stuff away and called it a night. When I was out in the hallway locking the door behind me, one of the janitors was still out in the hallway cleaning.

I am of the mind that there are no such things as ghosts, spirits or some mystical ethereal plane... it is very striking that I have never experienced anything that cannot be explained rationally.

My mother was a maid at the Hotel Del Coronado awhile ago, and it is greatly known for its hauntings.

One night she went to clean a room, and when she walked in
there was no there. As she was making the bed she saw a
woman sitting in a chair smiling at her.She was startled
and told the lady that she hadn't known she was there.
As my mother continued with her chores she noticed that the lady was fading away into a white mist, and then she was gone.

She felt the hairs on her neck stand, and needless to say she
left the room after she was done.

Spooky,huh?
