I agree. Unfortunely, too much of the industry will hang on to the old business model until it's to late.

Good job dude. You know, I never got caught on to playing music from my phone. The sound quality just isn't there yet and it seems like a waste to me. I noticed how you mentioned the rise of the indie scene thanks to improvements in technology, but I'm curious as to how you're going to handle your own music career. I got a couple of friends who were in my Music Industry 2 that are trying to get things going. One is in a band, they got signed to an indie label, paid some figure in the hundreds for a certain amount of cds also in the hundreds, i forget. But yea, I think they're touring this summer. They got their album in a small amount of stores that primarily just have indie releases. Another person isnt in a band but he's pretty much the bands manager. In a presentation he hipped us to these sites http://www.indieonthemove.com/ and http://www.pollstar.com/ I dont know if you know about these but basically you search for venues in the states you wanna hit, and on their I think the venue has there requirements that you need to send them (myspace, press kit etc.) so they can revue and see if they'll give you the gig. It's interesting stuff.
chill..prince doesnt like men being front row, makes it hard to sing the ballads

When they sue folks, record buying patrons, for downloading, yes they are behind. Little Brother got a deal from posting their stuff on OKay Player. That was major. (NC plug...had to).

The record industry will implode one day. We are in the era of superstars because those are the proven money machines, and less and less is spent on new artists. I really do think the indi move will get bigger and bigger while record label still rely heavily on record sales and radio. Both of which are dead...and I worked in radio for years. But dude, I think that shit will be standardized across the nation (radio). It already has. Charlotte's Radio One fired their program director and now the stations are manned by PD's in Houston and Philly.

Implosion

Been working on this conference for years www.smesmusicsummit.com with the founders and although we tell folks over and over get your supply chain working, educate yourself, and get it out there without majors, they still look for a damn golden ticket.

If I had a dime for every time someone asked me "who is going to be there?" or "Who is that that is speaking?" The days of playing your demo or rapping for Puffy at a Jack the Rapper conference are OVER.
