Tropic Thunder We watched this movie last weekend. It was so damn STUPID, but I do understand what they were doing with it. It was a big jab at everything Hollywood. Like the Australian actor that takes himself WAY too seriously (jab at Russell Crowe?) and the audacity of Hollywood execs using a white actor to portray a black actor than just using a talented black actor. The under cover gay rapper using another person's name (Al Pacino), the junkie actor, the fat rich asshole producer that puts up the money, etc.
It was one big slap at Hollywood. I really didn't care to see it when it came out because I thought it would be stupid and senseless. But there was a very smart underlying jab at all things Hollywood that I liked. Who else saw it? Do you agree?

I enjoyed that flick.
The man, pretending 2 be the man, playing the other man.....dig?

Yeah I thought it was good, both as a straightforward comedy and as a dig at hollywood. I loved the intros--Booty Sweat & the Fatties or whatever. Simple Jack. Good shit.
But it would not have been nearly as good without Robert Downey My Legacy

Robert Downy was excellent at playing an old head black dude. I cannot lie. He was GREAT. "You me's goin' on a date!"

Did anyone else think Jack Black looked like Brian Dennehy? My Legacy

They are playing it on HBO or Cinemax (forget which one) on a regular basis now. I saw it the other night. It was better than I expected. Robert Downy nailed his character. "Always blessings, never losses......"

I think it's cinemax that's playing it. That's how we caught it Saturday night.

I loved it. Robert Downey Jr was fantastic in it. "what do you mean you people"? "hey what doyou mean you people"? or "why are you still in character"¿ "I don't break character until the dvd commentary" [Edited 6/9/09 12:30pm] Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

We thought he might have been making a stab at Christian Bale too with that one! emoticon edit [Edited 6/9/09 12:54pm]

My guy LOVES it, so I watched it, expecting to hate it.
I actually liked it. Downey was good. He told me Tom Cruise was in it, but it took me till the kidnapping scene to FIND him! "Love Hurts. Your lies, they cut me. Now your words don't mean a thing. I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..." -Cher, "Woman's World"

i guess a lot of folk didnt realize who tom cruise was, but i knew from the first scene. his voice gave him away

Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it. |
