Better sketch player: Eddie Murphy or Damon Wayans? Serious question here, who was better during their respective times on SNL (1981-1984) and ILC (1990-1993)? Both dudes from New York, around the same age though Eddie started doing comedy years before Damon did. Damon was part of Eddie "Black Pack" crew of comedians in the mid 80s' and Damon was even cast on SNL for the token black guy sot after Eddie departed (he was fired) So, who was the better sketch performer? Homey the Clown vs. Mr. Rogers, Gumby vs. Oslwald Bates, Farakhan vs. Jesse Jackson, Buckwheat vs. Blaine, ect. PRINCE: Always and Forever

Unfortunately, they're both unwatchable now. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

Damon is great too but gotta give it to Eddie. He always gets me to laugh with his SNL stuff.

Eddie seemed 2 play his characters as more a of comedian and Damon played his more as an actor. (Hope that makes sense) That said, I'll go with Damon. He was more believable in his role.
Both were grade A funny though. [Edited 6/8/09 7:23am]

Eddie was a one-man tour de force on SNL, if it wasn't for him, SNL would have been off the air in 1980. Damon on the other hand was a supporting player (a good one) but he was apart of one of the best ensemble I ever seen on a sketch comedy show.

Gotta go with Eddie. I'm firmly planted in denial

Eddie. Eddie Murphy was the trend setter for cats like Damon. “When I give food to the poor, they call me a saint. When I ask why the poor have no food, they call me a Communist.” Brazilian bishop Dom Hélder Câmara

Damon was ILC like Eddie was SNL. If you think about the main characters the first couple of seasons, It's mostly Damon. Homey, Men on ..., Anton, Detective Head (LOL), Homeboys, Handi-Man. PRINCE: Always and Forever
