Roger Federer wins 2009 French Open, Completes Career Grand Slam, Ties Sampras w/ 14 Total Roger Federer defeated Robin Soderling 6-1, 7-6 (1), 6-4 to win his first Roland Garros title in his 4th straight final appearance. He is now the 6th player to win all 4 slam titles, but only the second (after Andre Agassi) to win them on 3 different surfaces. He is now tied at #1 all time (with Pete Sampras) with 14 grand slam titles. He'll look to break the record at Wimbledon in a few weeks.
