I remember when I wasn't working and I went to Mickey Dee's looking for a job. I had on a button down, slacks, & dress shoes and asked for an application. After I filled it out I asked to speak to the manager. He said to me, "Look, I can tell that you are a good worker. I mean, look at you! But I can't hire you. Not because of anything bad, but because in my position I can't hire somebody I KNOW isnt going to be here for more than a few weeks. You're better than this. I know it and you know it. You are going to come here and do your time and as soon as you get off you are going to hit the pavement and find another job. Then you may or may not give me two weeks notice.

As we talked a skinny white guy in a wife beater & holey jeans came in and asked for an application.

"Look at that. You came in dressed like you are JUST TO PICK UP AN APPLICATION. He came in like he did. If I were to hire him he would stay here 3 years. He has no ambition and it shows in his look."

He was totally right. And two weeks later I found a better job...and I would have been gone just like that.
