Lightning. Do you give it a second thought? As I was leaving work around 11pm, I overheard part of the news headlines. Apparently some one was killed by lightning in Fontana,Ca earlier. As I checked online to find more information, I heard about yet another person being killed in Southern Cal. http://abclocal.go.com/ka...id=6847235
I never used to really give lightning too much thought before, but it's pretty serious and actually made me nervous going home. Closer to my place, there was a lot of lightning flashing through the sky. I didn't hear any thunder and it wasn't raining (although we are due for a storm later today) so it was kinda trippy. The dark clouds kept covering up the moon and then the lightning would brighten things up again. I had to check the mail before going to my apartment and was pretty nervous and found myself rushing to get back in the car, get to my side of the complex and get upstairs asap! I heard on the news that lightning safety week begins on my birthday (Father's Day/Summer Solstice). How weird to have lightning safety in the summer in Fresno! Mother Nature is NOT pleased. I'm just wondering what you think about lightning. Do you ever give it a second thought or just kinda forget about it? "When words fail, music speaks..." --- Shakespeare

I'm pretty much the same way. It's been the cause of some fires in the San Bernadino area too. Very scary indeed. "When words fail, music speaks..." --- Shakespeare

It's been really muggy over hear. Real humid and overcast. I heard Texas hadn't even been as hot as the Central Valley here in Cali. We're supposed to have a storm today. Today, you could just see all of the clouds rolling in all murky-like. Speaking of aqua net, I was having a bad hair day, so I put my hair in a clip, teased out the ends and put some aqua net all over it. LOL "When words fail, music speaks..." --- Shakespeare

only once did I give it a second thought. I've always enjoyed lightning storms and about 10 years ago I thought it would be fun to drive towards one. Well I got to that side of town (outskirts) and suddenly realized I was way too close to the action - like maybe directly under the action. Deafening and great flashes every few seconds. I was scared absolutely shitless and wasn't sure I was going to come home alive.
I'd do it again though. | |

It's very dangerous. You can also get struck by lightning inside your house, in the bathtub and on the telephone.

As a former lifeguard at an outdoor pool, and someone who grew up on a farm where severe thunderstorms would leave our yard littered with trees/tree branches, I have always been wary of lightning. Luckily, I live in NYC now so I feel like a building will get struck before me; but I definitely don't go outside if I can help it. (Last Sunday I was in Central Park when it started raining, we took shelter under a tree because we didn't see lightning/hear thunder, but if I would have seen lightning, I would have been out of there!) The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

'Lightning. Do you give it a second thought?'
No. I don't do anything silly during electrical storms but do enjoy watching them from my private balconies undercover.

Sorry! Before starting this thread, I became kinda scared of lightning. We had another storm the next day. I sleep next to a window and was nerrrrvous. The power went out for 3 hours, winds were howling, downpour for about 30 minutes and lots of lightning and thunder. My area is not used to this type of weather. We're supposed to have lightning safety week coming up soon too. So weird for us here. "When words fail, music speaks..." --- Shakespeare

Very true. A co-worker told me of someone he knew in Oklahoma who was struck by lightning while washing her dishes. Luckily it hit a necklace she was wearing and she survived. "When words fail, music speaks..." --- Shakespeare

Only if I'm on the golf course. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
