I screwed up. Pardon me. Honeydew doesn't need it.

I was thinking rather of cantaloupe with a very, very light sprinkle of salt. Can clarify the taste really well. nod

oh my god, you people. i hate honeydew melon. it's like the styrofoam of fruits. nothing pisses me off more than a fruit salad full of honeydew. might as well be full of packing peanuts. it is as if the fruit salad were mocking me when i get a bowl full of honeydew. i take it personally. mad

MEANWHILE

canteloupe is my fave, though i'll never turn down some good watermelon.

if anyone can do anything with a honeydew melon that would make me enjoy the taste, then i say god bless them. i don't HATE it, but it's just so bland there's absolutely no reason to eat it. why not just eat a bowl of flour instead?

have you tried that starfruit? it looks fancy but is as disappointing as cardboard, well probably more so, since at least with cardboard your expectations are more realistic.

and how was the jackfruit?

i have never tried starfruit. i figured if it tasted like anything interesting, there'd be like starfruit gum or starfruit jelly or starfruit soda, etc. plus it always looks all withered when i see it in the produce section. eww.

jackfruit is yum. i haven't cooked with it yet but i think i'm going to play guinea pig with it maybe as soon as tomorrow. i've had it at a nearby restaurant in a curry and it's awesome. it has the texture of artichoke hearts, but it has kind of a nutty taste, almost like a kind of squash. i hope the canned stuff i bought from the asian market dresses up as good as what i've had eating out.

sounds intriguing! eek I just looked it up on google, I think there used to be jackfruit trees along the river where I grew up! I never even knew you could eat them! We used to just kick them until they split open redface

have you tried jerusalem artichokes? drool looks sort of like weird ginger roots, peel and cook it like a potato or make it into a soup - very delicate and unique flavour. I'm crazy about it drool

why, those things look like taters!

thai eggplant is a bit different than regular eggplant...they're small and round and green, but the texture inside is similar to "regular" eggplant. so far i've just chopped them in half and thrown them in curries and stir fries, but i'm interested in seeing what kind of crazy recipes are out there for them.
