Girl you need a thicker skin for that job.

Things that should help...

#1 No matter what happens, DON'T take it personally! Those people don't know you and what a great person you may be. To them, you are merely an extension of the Casino. This means they look for someone to blame, especially if they just lost their alimony money!

#2 Learn to work the system. Find a way to make your little piece of worker hell your own. Become so amazingly efficient they can't complain, be two steps ahead of your worst customers thoughts. Beat'em before the game even started!

#3 Don't take your work home with you. When you punch the card and clock out, that's it, it's over and walk away. When you get home, take 5 minutes to release all the bullshit you've endured before you see your man. Don't vent in front of him, he is not the problem, the dumb-ass nitwits this country is filled are. Leave your man out of the equation.

I was feeling wordy and I hope some of this helps. But keep in mind, there's a very real chance that I have no idea of what I'm talking about.

i hear u, working in retail for so long i often feel that some ppl treat u like a piece or s%#t. to counter this i smile at every customer, even if they r using my section as a short cut to where they are going. they cant help but smile back (in most cases).

I'm sorry to hear what you're going through. If it is taking a toll on your emotional health, definitely consider another job if not a long break. Cause what you've been experiencing long term like that IS considered emotional abuse and the longer it goes on, the more it affects you.

touched really I am...

Listen, we all come here to blow off some steam and talk about our issues. Then we use cute emoticons hug to express how we feel at any given moment, and that's always fun fishslap so there's no need to apologise for "venting".

I think we'd be interested to hear more about YOU lladygold so I'm going to start a thread in your honor and all I ask is that you play along and answer all the questions you're about to get... consider this an org-right-of-passage... it'll make you wiser & stronger...

well, maybe...

I can relate and I HATE my job too. I work for a call center doing customer service and I get cussed out ALL day by people thinking the world is gonna end because their stupid cell phone doesn't work. But like someone said before, grow a thick skin and shake that shit off when u hit the door. Dealing with the public sucks, but it's a job so don't let those people steal your joy or get 2 u. wink

Sounds to me like you are better off out of it.
I know if a job was making me that miserable i'd walk , its that kind of stress that sends people to an early grave.
In the meantime "chin up" you are better than the people who take pleasure in upsetting you.
Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!
woot!
