Bills, car registration, safety check, maintenence, gasoline, electric, water, sewage, cable television, internet service, insurance. I think the list can go on longer.

I was forced into it because a car I just bought died. I was so disheartened at losing almost $3000, I refused to spend more money on a car (as if I had any more money after that!!! lol) Gradually, I shaped a lifestyle around not owning a car, and now I don't miss it at all. I especially don't miss the bills, the upkeep, spending money on a non-renewable resource, sitting in traffic, and getting into accidents!

nod All those reasons and more are why I don't want to ever drive or own a car. I know how in case for some reason I might need to, but that's it.

I'm surprised since you had that post about how you and your ancestors are nomadic, and you need to always be moving. Cars are handy (you know, road trips, spontaneous stuff that you don't have to rely on others for).

I rent cars for road trips, and I do a community car share program to get groceries and run small errands. Once in a while, I take a cab.

My two cats got seriously ill at the same time. In the last two weeks I have spent about $3000 and they are not finished with me yet. They are not ready to be put to sleep but I don't know how much more debt I am willing to get into. They make it really hard for people to keep pets.

sad I feel you on that. nod Last winter, one of my cats got really sick, and had to have an operation. I wound up spending close to $1,500 between the operation, medications, phone consultations, boarding, etc. I hope your cats get well soon. It sux having a sick pet that needs medical care. hug
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.
