My mom used to make this chocolate frosting on a devil's food chocolate cake that was out. of. this. world. She doesn't make it any more, we are all healthy now. but dammit, I would have her make it and mail it to me and I would put it on brownies, white cake, hell spice cake.

In addition to chocolate cake, my comforts would be turkey n gravy, my dad's corn pudding, and a fatty greazy plate of mac n' cheese.

OK it's basically thanksgiving.

Vegetable soup. Preferably with crackers, or dumplings, or good crusty bread. But yeah. Soup. cloud9

Or anything involving a pile of fresh, beautiful vegetables, cooked in some simple way. Makes me feel grounded. Whole foods, in general, make me feel alive. Christ, I'm such a hippie, but it's true.

confuse I don't know, maybe it's regional, but it seems pretty common to me. smile

Some types of soup, like split pea, are basically cracker-topping for me. It's basically a bowl of crackers moistened with soup. lol

I wouldn't do animal crackers. Nothing sweet! More like saltines, or whole-wheat crackers. nod

i'm just wondering. I made myself the most exquisite spicy talapia and wild rice for dinner. I had a side of bell peppers, mushrooms, and corn baked in a peppery butter that I wrap in tin foil. I felt like i threw it down Bobby Flay style. I ate it and it made me feel good about life, and I know its gonna help cleanse ut the 8 eggs I ate for breakfast! So tell me friends what meals satisfy your soul?

It's not so much the kinda food made - it's the making

when the whole fam is in the kitchen - preping, cooking, laughing, sharing ...

filling the room and food with love ~ yeah

THAT is true soul food

Anything that you cook for or with somebody. Can be plain old potatoes and nothing else. The best meal can be quite frustrating if you make it for yourself.
