I am shaking my head in amazement

My 7th-grade daughter's school talent show is next Thursday. She and 3 of her friends auditioned to do a 2-minute dance number, and were selected. This audition was about a month ago.

Since then, one of the other girls' mother has hired a private instructor and rented out the local cheer hall about ten times. Maybe 20, I lost count.

These girls have put in at least 10 hours' work for a 2-minute dance. And they have about three more 2-hour sessions before the big day.

All for a 2-minute dance in a contest in which there is no judging.

I'm going to video the shit out of this, because it has to be the greatest dance of all time. And I want all the girls to send the tape to the William Morris agency, because I feel bad this one mom has spent about $500 on this.

No, really. I do.

I was going to get some photocopying done for the kindergarten, but I thought $20 was too much to spend!

LMFAO. I feel kind of guilty because this lady is paying for everything, but damn! I don't know why kids can't be kids.

What I want to know is this: Since they have an entirely new, professional 2-minute dance routine, what did they use to qualify with? I think they only had one session with the private guy before the audition, but maybe I'm wrong.

No kidding! And this REALLY cuts into all the rehearsal time I had planned for my daughter to practice singing and playing Taylor Swift's "You Belong to Me", which is the other thing she's doing in the talent show.

No one out stage-parents RodeoSchro!

I could understand it if your kiddo was a dancer. But for a couple of minutes? Yeesh. Over the top and a bit much in this economy. Save that money for a shopping trip and a manicure.

I feel bad for the kid of that mother. Damn I hope she makes the cheer/dance/colorguard/whatever squad in high school.

We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color.

The mom that's doing this is cool. I think she's just a perfectionist. It's not like she's pushy, just committed. Either that, or she wants to make sure we are better than the girls from the other competitve dance squad, LOL.

This competitve cheer stuff is quite hilarious. The place where they train is covered with national championship trophies, although I'm not 100% sure that everyone isn't a national champion in one way or another.

This cheer stuff is really just hip-hop dancing to me. They go at what seems like 250 beats per minute. Good stuff, though.

Sounds like her friend's mom has her little girl putting together her portfolio. I would totally take advantage of the pageant mom and video the hell outta it. Who knows, perhaps your daughter will use it for future hustles too.
