It is a physical problem. My jaw unhinges (I don't know if it is the right word) and when that happens it hurts terribly for a couple of days. Thank God in the last years it did not happen anymore. I am still careful though.

I think that is what mine does, my dad (dentist) told me that years of opening my jaw crookedly has worn a new path next to the correct one, my jaw can slide between the 2. I wore strange rubberbands on my teeth for years to straighten things up, and it don't have pain any more.

I never did anything against it apart from taking Aspirin because of the pain when it had happened. My dentist told me it would be very complicated to "cure" it by fixing it and would take years and might not help anyway.

I will admit that once upon a time I HATED it. I mean, LOATHED it. I didn't know what I was doing, it HURT my jaw (and I have tmj issues to boot), I couldn't figure out how/when to breathe and so on and so on.
Then I had a guy who was actually willing to communicate with me about what he wanted and I could see the response I got from following the directions carefully and with some practice and plenty of pointers it became something I actually enjoy on occasion.
And after that I defer to Carrie from Sex and the City (cheesy as that is, the sentiment fits me perfectly): "It's not my favorite thing on the menu, but I'll order it from time to time and with the right guy, it can be nice."
