Kevin Bacon Mugged In NYC Subway - Chases Down BlackBerry-Napper!

NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Kevin Bacon is in the market for a new phone after his Blackberry was reportedly swiped by a thief in a New York City subway station.

According to The New York Post's Page Six, Bacon's BlackBerry was allegedly stolen at the B, D and E station at 53rd Street and Seventh Avenue in Manhattan at 10:50 AM on Thursday.

But Bacon wasn't about to just give up his PDA - the actor reportedly chased down the alleged thief but lost him in the crowded station.

NYC Transit officials told the paper no subway personnel were informed about the alleged crime, but Post sources said Bacon did call the police. A spokesperson for the NYPD could not confirm if Bacon had filed a report when contacted by the paper.

The actor who was traveling with his band, the Bacon Brothers, was unavailable for comment when contacted by The Post.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, this isn't first time Bacon has been swindled. Kevin and wife Kyra Sedgwick are among the many victims of the massive Ponzi scheme run by the disgraced New York money manager Bernie Madoff, who plead guilty to running a $65 billion fraud in March.

That's so weird! That's my subway stop for work and last Thursday as I was walking to work (around 10:30am) I saw Kevin Bacon on 53rd Street/Fifth. He must have been walking to the stop!
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

You have to use street smarts on the subway. The MTA & NYPD announces all the time to keep valuables hidden. Most straphangers are in their own little world, listening to iPods, or yapping on cell phones. It's very easy for someone to swipe your shit when you're not paying attention. I've seen folks using laptops on the subway - WTF? That's an invitation to get robbed.

Funny. I keep my stuff on lockdown when I'm on a train, but I seem to be way out of place here in Toronto. It generally ain't an issue -- I've seen kids riding alone with hundreds of dollars worth of electronics on our trains. And no one bugs them.

No, it may not be, but it's damn bad regardless.

I've seen at least a few celebs on the subway. The last one I remember was John Slattery from Mad Men/Desperate Housewives at the Times Square station. It isn't that surprising--faster then a cab when you consider midtown traffic and a lot cheaper.

I saw YOU at the subway! So I'm only once removed from any celebs you've seen on the subway

you beat me to the footloose joke

and Toronto's subway is not even a real subway system. After I used the NYC one and realized there are express trains instead of stopping at every single stop for each one, I realized.
