European question: why is Letterman still on the air with that show? He's a grumpy old man that's not very funny. His top ten list is almost never funny and he too often has a condescending tone towards his guests.
Leno is funny, O'Brien is funny and Kimmel is funny but Letterman is rarely funny.

Aside from Arsenio, Letterman and Conan are my favorite late talk show hosts.
Letterman secured his (practically tied-for-first) position the night he walked over to Prince (who'd just finished his performance of "Dolphin" by pretending to die), bent over him and asked something like, "Hey, you OK?" in his clueless-curmudgeon voice. That and all the winter olympics gags he used to do with his mother. Awesome, for so many other reasons. But those are some of my favorite Dave moments.

I remember The Sun having a little column saying he had collapsed onstage. Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

I love Dave's grumpiness and condesending attitude. Ask any comedian, they'll tell you Letterman is the King.

I remember back in '96 when he had P on and the 2 of them were chilling backstage, and I forgot exactly how the skit went, but at the end of the joke, Lettermen ended up spitting out his water (Like this - nWo: bboy87 - Timmy84 - LittleBlueCorvette - MuthaFunka - phunkdaddy - Christopher

Didn't he also, during that same show, keep holding up a cardboard cut out of the symbol Prince was going by at the time in order to basically say "coming up, Prince"...but each time he held the symbol up it had an extra curly cue thing on it that Letterman would snap off of it...and then he would say "Oops, typo"? lol

Also, Prince was on a rant at the time because WB wouldn't release The Gold Experience because they had just released Come, and Prince kept saying the CD was never going to be released in order to try and get fans riled up in protest or some shit like that there...and when David Letterman introduced Prince's musical performance he said something like "Performing a song from his new CD The Gold Experience, a CD that Prince says will never be release...which makes perfect sense why he's here promoting it..."
