a question for the Boomers in the crowd:

What in the hell were some of you thinking when you named us? Your kids, I mean.

One of my soon-to-be roommates is named Juniper.

I met a 26 year old guy the other day whose given name is Sunshine.

I am casually aquainted with at least one of each: Windy, Stormy, Leaf, River, Heather, Cypress, and Winter.

Seriously, did you guys go through your child-bearing years high? stoned

I do indeed, but so far as I know not one of those people are Native or Metis.

In fact, all of these naturely be-monikered people except Juniper are white.

I like the name Juniper! smile

I do too. It makes me think of Benny & Joon. smile

But really, when you get some of these folk gathered in the same room together it gets a bit ridiculous. I feel like I'm at a gardening shop.

I remember a joke (or maybe it was true) about a couple who had 8 girls and a boy. Rose, Daisy, Holly, Heather, Iris, Ivy, Jasmine, Lily were the girls. And the boy? Jon. For Jonquil.

A label that sticks with you your whole life, as most people aren't going to bother changing their names even if they don't really care for them.

I do like the nature-themed names when they appear once in a while, but it seems there's such a large sampling of mid-20's people with boomer parents bearing names like these. What was going on in the early and mid 80's with Baby Boom parents?

The names are nice seperately, until you gather all of those people in a room. At a party, say. And it occurs to you that they're all around the same age, with parents around the same age. And these parents, chance are, didn't know each other. And that there are tonnes of other folk in the same social standing with similar greeny names.

And then you might begin to wonder about the quality of drugs said parents' generation had been hitting in their youth. lol
