I got very close to getting one in 2004. With my last pregnancy I got up to 34L or something stupid like that. I totally panicked because ill-fitting bras made my whole life miserable, the way I presented (read HID) myself, discomfort, all sorts of esteem issues UGH
I went to see a surgeon. He told me I was an ideal candidate, not overweight, no weight fluctuations. He was ready to take a litre of fat off each one to make me a C cup, which he thought was more in proportion to my frame. Once I lost the pregnancy weight and was back to 60kg, I found www.bravissimo.com and Panache bras. I got one (or 5 ) and I still wear a 32G or GG today and I grew to like my boobs - funnily enough the org had something to do with that - people on here say things to me that REAL LIFE folks would never dare - like that my boobs look NICE! if only I had known that like 20 years ago I could have saved myself a 2 decades of awkwardness

I had the surgery 3 years ago. I went from a DD to a C. The only time I have back pain now is when I'm doing something that really works my lower back, such as shoveling or moving something really heavy. Before having the surgery, I thought I'd try to lose weight to see if the cup size would reduce on its own. The problem was that my back hurt so much for carrying around those "fun bags" that I could barely work out. And I couldn't sleep for more than 6 hours a night so I was too tired to work out anyway. My doctor said that most of the people that lose a significant amount of weight in their breasts are the people that lose 100+ pounds so it was highly unlikely that I would lose cup size just by healthier lifestyle alone.
I'm very happy with the outcome. Sure, I have scars but they're not that bad, IMO. They're white scars and I'm really pale so they kind of blend in to my skin. I have good healing skin, I don't smoke and I put cocoa butter on them bad boys day and night. That all makes a difference. My cleavage is definitely not what it used to be. Back in the day, I looked like I had an ass on my chest. While my breasts looked better in clothes back then, they look better naked now, even with the scars. They give you a lift with the reduction. I haven't had children yet so I'm kind of nervous about what's going to happen to them during that whole process. Shake it til ya make it

My aunty and my cousin had it done. My aunty had it done 6 or 7 years ago and it turned out okay at first but she did it 3 months after giving birth, so they didn't end up very well balanced in the end. My cousin's look fine, scarring was almost healed one year on and she continuously moisturised 3 times a day and now 3 years on, scarring is pretty much non existant.

I know that some women lose size in their breasts when they lose weight, but a lot of women don't. BTW, while a woman's breast consists mostly of fat tissue, the fat tissue in the breast is different than the fat tissue around your stomach or around the hips. The fatty tissue in the breast is supposed to help with nursing a baby, particularly if one is starving. The fatty tissue in the hips is for the body's long term energy needs, while the fatty issue around the stomach is usually stored from excess calorie intake. It's supposed to be the easiest fat to lose, but it's also the most detrimental to your health if you have too much of it.

I wanted it so much back in the days...
As I mentionned on other threads D's can be a bitch for ballet and I would have done anything for the love of my art. Then I found out I wasn't the kind to submit to ballet rules: I'm fine the way I am, my breasts look sensational, and I don't need it for aesthetic reasons. And if I ever need to tone and relieve my back (those weigh a lot) I prefer doing some workout and swim. Is there any place of refuge one can flee from this insanity
