thank God there are still angels like you in the world. Doing the right thing is often scary but doing nothing is even scarier.

I hope the child has some decent relatives who can take care of him. NO parent should ever reach a point of anger that results in them beating their child. There is a difference between abuse and discipline. There is a difference between a child behaving like a lil monster and just behaving normally. I think this dude probably has beaten this child before. Where the hell is the mother?

I guess it's a cultural thing...if no one in your family was beaten...then you would be against it...if you've seen it then you wouldn't think it's so bad. I'm talking about abuse like the thread starter mentioned. I know in certain schools teachers hit kids...and your parents can't really do much about it.
[Edited 5/20/09 11:47am]

I will pull hair and a rare slap, but thats it and ONLY when I feel it is necessary. Oh and necessary, days after telling her no or her just not listening or she just acts out or get way too mouthy....After doing so, I feel so bad I usually cry.

Child abuse is never a cultural thing....Kids don't learn from hitting, they rebel and act out more.
Say it's just a dream...
U open up ur eyes and come 2 realize
u simply imagined this
So u lean over and give her a kiss
Here on earth, here on earth,
with u it's not so bad
Here on earth, here on earth
eye don't feel so sad
Stay right here

I am personally thankful Kim that you overcame any fear and did the right thing peace I had to call the cops on my old neighbor when I heard him flipping out and beating his toddlers who were maybe 2 and 3.

The cops came and I listened to them interview him and he said he was playing music and was just shouting over it. The cops left without arresting him so I called 911 right back to tell them that what he said was a lie that there was no music. It's fucked when the police fail to do their basic job.

How terrible for you. I just hope that when the abuser gets out he does not try to retaliate against you, on second thought most child abusers are cowards towards adults. stay safe. cry

i have given my son a little spank on the bottom- (come on, be honest, who hasnt) but never enough to hurt him-other than his pride. and this is after many many many warnings. mainly when he was younger- and reason didnt work.
and generally after a potentially dangerous situation ( like running into traffic after yanking my hand away- eek )

usually, if he is having a hissy fit-and id like to go all homer on him "why u lil choke" i'll send him to the bathroom-no fun toys in there like his bedroom wink he cant come out til he has settled down.gives us all some breathing space.

i actually recorded his last hysterics on my ph and showed him
falloff

hmmm he hasnt had a hissy since woot!

No Kim, thank YOU! I've been thinking about that poor little boy, ever since I read your post, wondering if he was ok. So thank you for letting us know. I'm just glad he's safe and (reasonably) well with his aunt. I hope his bastard of a dad gets what's coming to him pissed

oh that bastard dad needs to stay in jail/prison. that is attempted murder as far as I'm concerned. breaking a child's arm? do you know how violent you would have to get in order to break bones? sigh pray its going to take a lot of counseling and still he will carry this with him forever. so terribly sad to be unable to trust those who brought you into the world.

After reading the update, that made me think of the horrible news stories where
a missing child was found beaten to death.
I imagine that with the extent of the little boy's injuries,
he could have been one of those missing children,
but you saved him.
