possibly. My grandma is nearly 100, and she hasn't lost her faculties yet so if she'd had her kid at 66, that kid would be 34 today.

( not my affair, just the first thought that comes to mind is selfish) My grandmother is 90 and although she has her faculties, in no way is she able to prepare a young adult for the real world. We could put up a great many exhibits here though of parents who shouldn't have kids for one reason or another
The percentage of folks equipped with the commitment and follow-through, intelligence, wisdom, patience and unconditional love required to parent well is, well, slim at best. Kids are mostly left to their own devices to muddle through it and learn the hard way, and some of them turn out just fine. I guess we can only try our hardest.

With our life expectancies getting so long I thinkit's less irresponsible than it used to be, but she's not 60 she's 66 (and there's a real difference between living to 78 vs. living to 84), and she is not married. So it's a bit irresponsible.
But my dad's new wife has 2 kids, and he's a much better dad at 65 than he was at 35. My Legacy

Someone just recently asked me, incredulously,
'You mean you still want kids?' It's not like I'm the age of my great grandmother.

My only thought is,what if she doesn't live to see this child into adulthood? Is there anyone that she is going to have to step in,or is this kid going to end up an orphan? I know that it is nobody elses business, but when someone decides to carry a child past the age of 60,these kinds of thoughts come to mind. Just asking. no I only mean she's old and there's quite honestly a decent chance of her dying before the kid is 18. So if she's alone (not married or in a relationship) then it's likely that neither parent will be raising the kid [Edited 5/18/09 17:36pm] My Legacy
