How bad was the sting? Is it really swollen. I've never been stung by a bee or hornet/wasp/yellowjacket. My dad has and he's allergic so I think I would probably look like a blowfish if I got stung.

I'm not allergic thankfully (one of the few allergies I don't have. It's just the standard swelling and ouch. Lame.

The dog has a swollen lip so I think he was trying to bite the thing. disbelief

Might be time to invest in one of those cute mosquito nets for the summer. Just roll that bitch back during the daytime so it won't feel like it takes up too much space...but come nightfall, at least you and puppy will be alright.

hmmm

Nets aren't normally needed out here. If I could just learn to close my window at night I'm sure I'd be fine.

Could be nice so that you could leave the window open during summer to catch a cool breeze at night...

...and er um, the other thing is that lurking at night lurking, the net pulled around your bed makes stuff look real sexy when you're having, um, romp time shhh

lurking

Swelling and such, but nothing I can't live through. I'm more concerned about the dog, who is currently trying to bark with a swollen, stung lip. confused

I would have shrieked and screamed and cried and ran out of the room like a maniacal idiot.

I have a hornet/bee/wasp phobia.

Yes. They are. Those are the only bees I can not run from. I still get nervous but I can refrain from running.

And since I'm such a heavy sleeper, I couldn't understand for a minute what had just happened or why my neck hurt so much.

They are cute. Just don't piss them off. lol

Normally I don't mind bees or hornets or wasps. I like to leave well enough alone, and so haven't been stung since I was maybe 11 or so.

Yeah, it's pretty lame. Not to be concerned about though unless you're unfortunate enough to have an allergy.

Bumblebees sting????
I always thought them to be harmless.

I saw a show once on the Japanese Giant Hornet

Those things are VICIOUS!
They reported on a man who was mowing his lawn, and the vibrations from his lawnmower set off a nest hundreds of yards away, and they attacked. The man was stung so badly that his flesh was decomposing by the time they got him to the hospital.
He died of course.

Youch! hope you heal soon. stings suck. I was allergic to them as a kid (I had to be taken to the hospital and my face apparently looked scary and hilarious). But a few years ago i stepped on a wasp in some grass and i just felt pain but nothing crazy happened. Sleeping with bees though....is that BEEstiality. heh heh heh.
