nah, I've only got the fucked up uterus. And liver problems which cause me to go in every few months and rake up a few grand in procedures. I pay out of pocket. I also pay 200/month on prescriptions.

It shouldn't be like this. My 95-year-old grandmother shouldn't be living hand-to-mouth, either. Have a heart, girl.

no, it's apalling cry

how about a uterus covered in cysts? or schizophrenia? or melanoma or diabetes or severe depression? if you were in my boat, a full-time student who must pay for all health costs out of pocket because I don't qualify for state-funded insurance because of pre-existing conditions, would you feel the same way?
[Edited 5/21/09 19:17pm]

If I were you, inferring that you have all those conditions, I would feel the same way and I would reach out to my church.

What if you don't have a church TO reach out to, due to a multitude of reasons? Who do you reach out to, then?

I'm saying that a lot of folks in USA won't get treatment for things considered non-essentials, because they would have to bear the full crippling cost of it - thousands of dollars - if they have no insurance. They simply have to suffer - too bad.

Where I come from, if you need the procedure (and you will be assessed for eligibility) you can get it done - either for free or minimal out of pocket expenses. Those with money to spend can choose surgeons or do away with waiting periods, but at the end of the day - all citizens have access to care they need.

I would beg to differ that not getting a breast reduction is authentic suffering or that bearing the burden of cost is authentic suffering (especially given that they didn't have to have the procedure but rather chose it).

Can you tell me why, where you come from, a fellow taxpayer should have to pay for your breast reduction? Can you tell me why people who are already paying for the public healthcare system should have to also pay for their private healthcare wants to avoid waiting in lines?
Spoken like a person who does not have back pain from having large breasts.

then again, if you think waterboarding isn't torture, back pain is a day at an amusement park.

but don't you know authentic suffering arise only from LIFE OR DEATH conditions! nod who needs GPs, all we need is ER wards really - for those truly WORTHY of treatment. Folks with trivial illnesses, chronic non-life-threatening conditions or minor injuries should stay home and pray instead.

I heard that Austria was officially the horniest country in the world! I'm serious. I have no idea how they brought that to light, but I guess I lift the average horniness of any country above all the others, so these statistics might be credible!

See, that's because of us Austrians! We are so horny we can't help acting like goats who haven't had a nanny goat for seven years, although it might just have been 2 hours! nod
