Gruden replacing Kornheiser on MNF BRISTOL, CONN. (AP) —Former Tampa Bay coach Jon Gruden is replacing Tony Kornheiser on ESPN’s Monday Night Football broadcast team.
The network said Monday that Gruden will be in the booth with Mike Tirico and Ron Jaworski when the show starts its 40th season this fall. Kornheiser cited a fear of flying in his decision to leave after three years. Gruden led the Bucs to the 2003 Super Bowl title and was fired after this past season. He worked as a guest analyst this year with the NFL Network during the draft and scouting combine. He will debut with ESPN with a preseason game Aug. 13, a Super Bowl rematch between the Arizona Cardinals and Pittsburgh Steelers. | |

I think it's amusing that the "reason" for Tony's departure is his fear of flying. He's been dealing with it up til now and I watch him everyday and I've never heard him mention it. I'm sure the fact that most fans HATED his ass on MNF didn't have anything to do with it. | |

Yeah he's cool on PTI but he used to put me to sleep when he had his radio talk show several years back. If i turned my dial to a sports talk show i want to hear sports, i don't want to hear a sports talk show host telling people whether he likes his egss sunny up, sunny down or scrambled in the morning. He was always off topic. He didn't fare much better on MNF imo. Don't laugh at my funk
