One can be honest and polite at the same time and it's a virtue I think is important. "I don't see this working out" is just fine.

b) the "I'll call you!" but she/he never does - I don't want to be waiting by the phone - I've got living to do

c) text message - A text message will get his ass kicked for him with a quickness

d) disappearing act - depending on how much of myself I had invested in the relationship a disappearing act would bring me drama - especially if there wasn't an note

e) new single status on their facebook - I don't do facebook so I wouldn't get the message

I think A is the only way for any decent person to go.

I prefer to be sat down and told face to face. Screw the whole text message thing, or email, had that done and that blows. I would rather the person be brave enough to say "Hey, this is not working."

My brother had a girl text him from another country telling him she was breaking up with him. He didn't even know she'd gone abroad, let alone was calling it quits.
