I am of the mind that there are no such things as ghosts, spirits or some mystical ethereal plane... it is very striking that I have never experienced anything that cannot be explained rationally.

but that's just it, Ice. it IS rational to assume that there are ghosts and other things we cannot perceive.

dogs can smell things we can't because their noses are more sensitive. eagles can see things we can't because their eyes are sharper.

long-winded story short - the spectrum of color and sound, energy etc. of the physical world around is far more vast than that which humans are able to perceive, due to the limits of our so-called 'five senses'.

therefore, it is logical to assume that there might be spirits/beings/energy around us that we can't directly perceive. imo

Energy, yes... spirits of humans that retain memories and forms beyond death, no.

I'm not sure if this is a ghost story or not, more of a angel encounter though. My brother was born when I was around 8 or 9 years old. When my mother brung him home, I remember being so scared because I thought my younger brother was gonna die because he looked so helpless and small. Every time he cried, I cried. I was very protective of him because I didn't want anything to happen to him. Late one night, my mother rocked my brother to sleep and left him in the baby pen in the dining room. When I saw my mother without my brother, I became very mad because I didn't want him to be left alone. My mom told me he was sleeping in the dining room and he'll be okay. I raced to the dining room to make sure he was okay, and when I went in there I saw a huge, beautiful being hovering below the ceiling. I ran back to tell my mother what I've seen and she said "That's is your brother angel sweetie, I prayed to God to protect him and God sent a angel to watch over him while I was away"

Everytime when I tell this story to someone, people tell me "it was your imagination"...I don't think so. I know exactly what I saw and what I saw was indeed a Angel.

I have to admit that I've always been a bit of a skeptic myself...but the experience with my daughter last month (as I described in my previous post) really shook me up. You just CAN'T dismiss that as a "coincidence" or explain it rationally.

There are others here with us my friend.

Moonbeam

I have some from when my brother and I travelled out west. We entered Arizona late at night from New Mexico, and headed up highway 191 to Utah. Highway 191 in Arizona is mightily freaky. There is a vast amount of land on both sides of the road, but for some reason, there were literally hundreds of crosses in a couple hundred miles. It was nerve-wracking because there didn't appear to be any real reason for so many deaths. I was quiet the whole way while driving and thought my brother was sleeping in the seat next to me, only to find out that he was simply petrified the whole time. It all stopped when we got in Utah.

Then, less than three months later, my bro and I went back out with my family. We again went on that highway (don't ask me why) with my brother driving this time. My mom was half-asleep in the back, and when we were on the highway, she had these horrible visions of turning over rocks that had evil faces on them. There's something up with that road!

On the same trip, we ended up going on Highway 666 in Colorado. My brother saw this big black dog on the side of the road that was just sitting there, watching the cars go by. I didn't see this, or I would have freaked!

Perhaps the strangest story also took place on this trip. We were in Eastern Utah, heading to Dinosaur National Monument, when we saw a hitch-hiker. About a half hour later, we saw the same hitchhiker and we hadn't stopped. We got out at a rest area and saw the SAME hitchhiker. It was creepy!

I don't know if any of these really qualify, but they certainly scared us!

No...certainly not in white sheets with chains around their necks...but there ARE such things as spirits. I grew up hearing the stories. Then I experienced it myself. Science can't explain EVERYTHING.
