because you don't wear them. you use them to pray than you put them away.

if you notice not even i will wear a rosary as Sister Iona, i have too much respect for those in my family who stil practice to wear a rosary as some fashion accessory.

but why? Is it a curse? Is there an edict from a pope or something on this? Something in scriptures that outlines this rule?

no, no, and no.....

I believe in the Power of the Great Mother as she is identified in the Blessed Virgin Mary. If you don't know how to pray a rosary you shouldn't be wearing it.

I don't believe in the power of the Virgin Mary but I do love symbolism and I would feel totally OK in owning a rosary even though I'm not practicing. But still, where is the rule that says this? NOthing but a tradition with no identifiable beginning?

A person may wear a Rosary around one's neck if they wish to, but there is no documents from the Church to say one way or another.

The Rosary is NOT regulated by the Church. It is a personal devotion and as such the Church make no rules about it other than the rules concerning blessed objects.

Since the Rosary is not regulated and is a personal devotion one can say the Rosary any way they want to, wear it around their neck, or whatever, as long as proper respect is due to a blessed object (most people have their Rosaries blessed).

It is perfectly fine to wear it around your neck. There is nothing disrespectful about it. We wear medals and postage-stamp scapulars around our neck all the time. The people telling you it is wrong are being scrupulous, though I am sure well meaning. Bro. Ignatius

the Rosary is a reminder or the joys, pains, suffering and redemption of Mary, the Theotokos. the role of the Great Mother. if you don't know how to use it you shouldn't have it.

Wear whatever the fuck you want. If I saw something pretty that had some kind of religious meaning, I'd wear it just because it's pretty. I couldn't care less if others thought it was wrong. I think religion is ridiculous anyway so having religious people condemn me has no effect on me whatsoever.

What if it's not about "using" it? I'm asking my grandmother if I can have hers when she passes. If this is sacreligious, I really don't care.

Actually the rosary is just a tool NOT some holy relic....if you look at many Latin cultures and religions such as Candomble and Lukumi..it is perfectly acceptable to wear a rosary much as you would a saint medal or a crucifix. Those that are offended by it were probably raised Catholic. Having been raised Catholic myself, I can understand the guilt and persecution you suffer from your faith. Faith is to be celebrated not mourned. I think Amorbella is perfectly fine to wear a rosary around her neck....who cares who she tweaks in the process....apparently it is their issue and not hers...just sayin'

in my family you didn't wear it out of respect. we were allowed to wear other things like saint medals, and crucifixes but not rosaries.

Whether it's right or wrong is a personal decision.

Madonna thought it was right for her, amorbella thinks it's right for her.

this is what mine looks like

it's a full 5 decade or is it a 4 decade? most fashion rosaries are missing a decade so they hang right. a traditional rosary isn't symmetrical.
