Twittering

For those of you on Twitter, what app(s)/program(s) do you use to interact? Not everyone goes right to the Twitter page to tweet.

I use Tweet Deck on my PC and Mac. I know some use different iPhone apps, and some use Widgets in Dashboard.

What do you use?

I don't use any of that stuff--I just tweet. But I do have a question--I haven't figured out what it means when you put a "#" before a statement or name?

I think it makes it searchable, but I'm not sure. I only really know about putting @ as a reply to someone specifically. I still don't quite get RT either.

Tweet Deck is a cool program. You should check it out. www.tweetdeck.com

I use tweet deck, and now and again go straight to the main website...then of course via my cell.

RT is Re-Tweet. It's quoting someone's else tweet. I do that with tweets I want my followers to check out or I find especially interesting and worthy of my peoples attention.

It's like your status update on Facebook or Myspace. And that's it. 140 characters and it ends there. No bells, no whistles. Kind of like a stream of thought. Twitter explains it as "it's what happens between blog entries".

Twitter is a sound a bird makes. And when you write on the site you make a tweet.

Twatting.....no sure.

which is really my problem with Twitter. well, not really a problem, but what makes it so completely useless to me. it's just like my facebook or myspace status update except so much less. i really don't get it. confuse

See, I use it differently. You can link Facebook to Twitter (as you can with YouTube, Livejournal (or any blog), Digg, Flickr, etc). So when I send a tweet, let's say, from my phone, and it says "Traffic SUCKS!", it shows up on my Twitter, right? People following me on Twitter will see it. BUT since I've linked FB to Twitter, my Facebook will import the tweet, so my Facebook status now reads "Traffic SUCKS!". Saves me a step. I tweet once, and get two pages updates. I love that convenience factor. It does NOT import "@" replies to someone btw.

I use Twitter a lot to communicate with my friends, as well as folks like The Family, Wendy and Lisa, Sheila E (yes, all of which have responded to me more than once or twice). And I follow other musicians I really dig to get updates on what they're doing. It's just a quicker reference to things instead of going to Facebook all the time.

But I guess my point is.. we already had facebook for this, and we've just added another layer that does exactly the same thing, but a whole lot less. shrug

I find it pretty useless, too. If it wasn't for the fact that I have a band to promote, I probably wouldn't be on anything but MySpace and ReverbNation.
