No we're talking about Cantinflas, a Mexican character actor who somewhat crossed over to America back in the 60's or 70's. I know who Cantinflas was, but I thought ya'll were comparing Mizrahi to him. Anyway, went to the screening. The movie was cool but the meeting the director and hearing the backstory was the best part. Valentino and his partner were hilarious. I highly recommend it if you love fashion.

As much as I appreciate fashion, I don't have favorites. Probably b/c I can't afford that shit But I do wanna see that Valentino movie, it looks good

Vivien Westwood got a real sense for strangeness and I love it
So is Gaultier Alexander McQueen And Galliano As long as one appreciates fashion as a work of art obviously, not everyday's wear. Is there any place of refuge one can flee from this insanity

I can't afford most of the clothes either but it's still fun to follow. Diane von Furstenberg is the only "designer" I actually wear. I'm the queen of the wrap dress. Now the handbags and shoes . . . I'm all over them joints. [Edited 5/9/09 13:12pm]

I'ma have to track down pics, but my die hard tried and true over the last 10 or 12 years (with newcomers included) are generally fromthe Milan camp ,but I do love a touch of Northern European industry darlings, the kids from other random capitals :
Alberta Ferretti Do.Ri. Ter et Bantine Costume Nacional Viktor & Rolf Max Mara Verononique Branquinho Yoji Yammamoto Jil Sander (minus the years she left the label) Botega Venetta (thanks Rachel Z., wherever you are!) Allesandro Dell'Acqua Ann Demeulemeester Missoni Dries Van Noten Celine

Yves St. Laurent (may he rest in peace)...
and Oscar de la Renta... are probably my two favorites of all time. I also love Issey Miyake. I've made several of his designs and always end up wanting to beat my head against the wall because they're major feats of engineering. They're worth it, though - they always look amazing... This is NOT one of the designs I've made... We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
