I have been in plenty of unsafe situations, but as far as doing something deliberate:
I had a camaro when I was 18, after nights of drinking I used to get on highway 495 and drive at top speed, sometimes as far as cape cod and back eventually I totalled it drunk driving on a back road [Edited 5/8/09 6:34am] Le prego di non toccare la macchina per favore!

I was damn near depressed at some point and just said fuck it. I couldnt tell u which drinks i mixed but it was too much for me. My body was messed up. I woke up feeling drunk and with a fever. Took my temp and it was 102. Drunk some water and took it again an hour later. This time it was 103.5. I didnt want anyone to know because i didnt wanna go to the hospital or anything. I laid back down and when i took it once more, it was 105. I could hardly walk. I didnt know what was going on but i didnt care. I cant remember what i took..whether it was motrin or thera flu but my temp finally went back down. I went through an insane whore phase when I was younger. Always safe(r) encounters, but literally countless partners. That was definitely the most unsafe thing I've done, and I'm grateful to have been moved past it. [Edited 5/8/09 21:12pm] Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

Was it a racial thing, you think? No purely money. I only went out for dinner and after I left the restaurant went back to my hotel. I passed the corner and they were standing there. They saw me and immediately called me over. Because I didn't carry my passport (I only got out to grab a bite and left it in the hotel) they had a reason to hold me, notcaring about my request to go to my hotel one block furhter and get my passport. So they made me empty all my pockets on the street, took me in their car and told me they would have to take me to the station and lock me up. then they changed their mind and did go to my hotel where they searched all my stuff to see if I wasn't carrying any drugs. Then I had to get back into the car again, closed the doors and made me pay up so they could "eat" before they left me at that horrbile spot.

No it was in Puntarenas (a large port town) and yeah it was very much illegal, but I am not sure what my embassy could have done while I was sitting in their car figuring out a way to get them off my back. The thing is, Costa Rica's police is very much underpaid (and involved in the drugs and gang business) and altho' I could have resisted, they could then have me beaten up and later claim they found me on the streets like that and simply helped me out. Ain't no way then I can prove they did that to me. I am still going to write a formal complaint to Costa Rica's president tho'!

One guy told me he once got stopped three times in Nicaragua by police with machine guns. Every time they claimed he did something wrong like speeding and told him to pay up big time with a machine gun pointed at this head. After one day of driving he lost 400$ that way.

* Going out at night in a foreign "Third World" country without your Passport. * Climbing 40-meter-tall trees with no apparent harness. * Passenger in a bus driven -- through mountains -- by some drunkard on a cell phone. We've definitely gotta get you married off. You need a girl who'll keep you out of trouble. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου
