Well it has been the craziest last 6 days in Santa Barbara, we now seem to be out of the woods, thank god. The fire is 70 percent contained, all but 300 people have been allowed to return home...at one point there were 30,000 people evacuated from their homes in Santa Barbara!
Thursday night the Santa Barbara foothills were in a wild blaze and coming towards the city. Most of us did not sleep Thursday night, as it was beyond comprehension how fast the fire was moving and growing. I was never evacuated, but many of my friends, family, and co-workers were. All of us not directly affected tried to comfort the ones around us. My heartfelt thanks to all the firefighters who came to our city, 4,000 firefighters were fighting this fire at one point. My heart goes out to the families of the 70 homes lost. | |
