Where I lived in Mississippi they had a siren that would sound whenever there was a tornado. It's loud enough to hear.

About 2 years ago when we were in MS there was a tornado that ripped through my son's school. He was a couple hundred feet away from the path it tore through the school.

Scared the total shit out of me. So much so that I ran a mile in the pouring rain to get to him. I couldn't get there by car.

Hmm ...

well we would notice the wind because we live on the side of the mountian. We have had just regular storms that sound/feel like the roof is comming off.

I don't have much fear issue with storms, actually I have a bit of an unhealthy risk attraction to them eek

In the city, yes, there is an alarm system they can sound but that's about 40 minutes away and we would not hear that
I am storm sensitive and usually wake several minutes before they come in - you can see them comming across the mountians and you usually have about 5 minutes from then before they reach our home

I'm just not bothered/worried about it

I supposed if I am to die that way then that's how I will die

eek

Our city does not have an alarm system, when they are predicting bad weather I leave the TV on at night and I wake to the LOUD voice from the Ft Worth weather service and listen for my county. Usually they say if you live here take cover now. so I get up. I am very afraid of storms here,I used to love thunderstorms before I associated them with tornados. I am a cali girl livin in the south, I'd take an earthquake any day over a tornado. shrug I rather deal with the stress of aftermath than both.

Unfortunately for me, I've seen some Japanese performance art with a drumming ensemble that put the concept of drum sex in real time, so I was so traumatized when I read your post I had flashbacks falloff...in any case we are glad you are safe lol martini lol
