He touched each of the losties, and they all ended up on the island and lived through everything...did he grant them some sort of immunity? But he touched Locke and technically Locke is dead...

The other guy has no name but is either Esau or Samuel (bible reference).

He is most likely the smoke monster and is what we thought was Jacob this whole time. He "chose" Locke because he knew Locke would blindly believe if he thought he was special. Locke's ENTIRE island journey has been so this bad asshole can take over Locke's body then order the next best version of Locke (Ben) to kill Jacob.

Smokey has been known to inhabit dead people and project itself as people the losties care about or know of in order to get them to obey the island. Or so we thought.

There's direct evidence that Esau is Smokey in Dead is Dead (Ben's judging episode).

Ben falls down a hole, Locke disappears to go get a rope, the minute he disappears, smokey appears and makes Ben feel REALLY guilty by showing him his daughter dying again, then Smokey projects itself as Alex in order to make Ben follow "Locke" aka kill Jacob when "Locke" orders him to. When Alex disappears, Locke is suddenly back.

Oh yeah there are some survivors that are now with the others "Cindy" the flight attendant, those 2 kids, and some other people from the tail section. Hope they resolve that for the final season next year.

The actor who plays Juliet (don't know her name) is doing another show which is most likely the reason she fell down and possibly died...only time will tell.

As far as current plot line is going ultimately its a battle of good vs evil with Jacob and the other guy. He somehow used Locke's image as a proxy to get back at Jacob and find his "loophole". Smokey is either this guy in an ethereal form or is his own personal force of keeping the good away. Watch the intro to the finale again and you will get a lot more insight into where its all going.

The circle of ash around the cabin was to simply lock this person in place so he could no longer go around the island corrupting people and bringing out the evil in everything which is what he wants to do.

All signs are pointing towards Hurley being the savior of everything as his pretty much the only character that hasn't done anything fully evil or bad like all the other characters have. Look at when Jacob goes back to all the losties in the past as children, especially Kate who he tells not to do anything like that again...and what does she do she goes out and kills, steals, extorts and more much like every other character in the show.
