[Edited 5/6/09 7:16am] True story...school is out and 4 kids (guys) jaywalking in droopy pants. Green light. Cars start moving. Jaywalking kids take off running in the street. One of the kids is licking an icecream cone. Drops the cone while holding up his pants running. Couldn't help lol, rolled down my window and yelled out "Put a belt on!."

This is my 26th year working for the Ohio Department of Corrections and I have yet to hear that rumour.Personally, I think Jermaine Dupri and Kriss Kross popularized that. They were the first kids I saw that sagged and dressed backwards. Upper persuasion for the lower invasion

I've heard this too. | |

The thing that kills me is, not only do they look like they've dropped a load in their pants, it also makes their legs look about 2 ft tall.
Stupid looking. I'm firmly planted in denial

purplesweat said: I don't even know how it originated. So many people I know have changed their entire style of walking to accommodate the ridiculously low pants they're wearing. Now it's a kind of wide legged waddle.
It is the prison idea to an extent, I believe, but what if this is a version of the cowboy and his bow-legged walk, too?

You know that style caught on a little bit over here with young teens trying to emulate what they see as American rap culture...the next time I see one on the bus, I just wanna lean over and say, "Psssst, ya know what, Kid...?" had no effect here. they still do it..

Well, however it began, looks like it's become a kind of mating call for old timers in the system to go after the newbies (whether they know it or not) from this youtube clip "Lock-Up: Raw Booty!" [Edited 5/10/09 1:40am]
