The 2nd annual "Orgers who've lost their moms support thread" last year's thread was very therapeutic for me, my first without my mom..tell us what you remember most about your mom and what you do on mother's day now.

I lost my Mom on December 1, 2006. It is still very hard, especially around the Holidays, Mothers Day and her Birthday.
But even now people still come up to me and tell me how kind and wonderful she was and that makes me smile. In fact it happened last Saturday at one of my daughters Soccer games. "Always blessings, never losses......"

In fact it happened last Saturday at one of my daughters Soccer games. i get that from people too. at my mom's viewing, i was kinda surprised that the people from the dialysis center, the ambulance drivers and the nursing homes came and paid their respects, even though they only knew my mom less than 90 days. they told me how she always spoke of her kids and grandkids and how she made them smile. these folks were genuinely broken up over her passing, even though igather they see death and suffering everday in their line of work.

My mother died following heart surgery in 1993
I remember how she supported me no matter how idiotic I was.

my mother died in 2007. i don't do anything physically to acknowledge mother's day, but i do remember and take some time out to go through my thoughts. the way i feel about it, my mom doesn't exist in the physical world anymore, so buying flowers or a gift or doing something like that no longer means anything. my mom lives on in my memories of her, so the best way i can honor her on these occasions is with thoughts and feelings.

I lost my mother in 2003, a week after Mother's Day. To put it bluntly, Mother's Day sucks for me. Brings up too many painful memories. I visit her grave, but that's all I do.

I lost my mom on the 4th of July, 1994. It's been a long time but I still miss her. She was hilarious! But, she's around. My family still talks about her. We sit and laugh. She is the reason that I try not to bitch about work. She worked in a cannery sometimes 7 days a week, 12 hours a day and went home and still cooked dinner. Never bitched. After she retired she said that during those hard working years she had the best time.
I get my work ethic from her. Love ya mom, from your Hijoche. M MyeternalgrattitudetoPhil&Val.Herman said "We want sweaty truckers at the truck stop! We want cigar puffing men that look like they wanna beat the living daylights out of us" Val"sporking is spooning with benefits"

I lost my Mom 12 years ago. She was kind, sweet and very loving. She led a very hard life, she was married to an alcoholic, had 4 kids and worked 2 jobs to keep the family going.
I love and miss you Mom, I hope I make you proud.

Everyone, I honor and respect your memories and feelings. This is a day I do not look forward to. It will be one of the hardest times of my life and seeing everyone's journey who have lost their mother makes me respect and love the time I still have left.

I lost my mom 2 years ago to leukemia...but it feels like yesterday. I think it will always feel like yesterday, but its okay because her memory is fresh in my mind. How could I not miss all that love?
People...please dont limit showing your appreciation of your mom to mothers day.....make an effort to make her feel special on a regular basis. [Edited 5/4/09 15:30pm] Going to church doesn’t make you a Christian, any more than standing in a garage makes you a car.

I lost my mom in 1993. We didn't get along very well but we used to like watching Jeopardy together. She wasn't a huge Prince fan but she loved Why U Wanna Treat Me So Bad? enough to go out and buy the Prince album. She also loved Raspberry Beret and Kiss. She passed on her love of Motown to me and gave me her singing voice. I sing when no one's around and I love how I sound just like her.
She wasn't by any stretch of the imagination the best mom, but she was all I had and I miss her.

To everybody who has lost their mom. I cannot even begin to imagine what that would be like! My mom is like my best friend, and I will be DEVASTATED when she passes away. It's something that makes me tearful, just thinking about it. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I lost my mom 09-26-08. She died from complications from breast cancer. She lived with me and in reality I had been losing her for 2yrs. I was glad I got to say good bye and I love you the day they took her in the ICU. It's still hard for me but I am my mothers daughter and she taught me alot about being a good person. Just Call Me Afrochick
I love you mom | |
