Fear of Success... :boxed:

anyone familiar?

...i kinda have a semi big oppurtunity knocking at my door and it scares the shit out of me. i dont wanna say just what it is yet, cuz i still feel like talking about it will jinx it, but lets just say my agenda sundenly has the offer of professional assistance. the ball is in my court. and i can feel that if things go right..shit is gonna start happenin real fast (or at least as fast as i can move)

and thats the thing, i know i have skills. and i know possibilty is endless.

but im shook.

i refuse to take any of this for granted but...its like, now that people are saying "hey..you've got something. lets take it to the next level" - im freezing up.

anybody else have success hangups?

has anyone (especially independant business owners) overcome that clinging fear of your own potential?

i refuse to stop hear yaknow, but...i'm all boxed

help family

p.s.==> the oppurtunity is being extended because of how "successful" my blog is becoming. i dont know how many of you have checked it out or not, but once this new oppurtunity starts to materialize as content- it will most likely surface there as well. http://sahboog.wordpress.com

I say keep your head but do jump in. The fear will only bring regret if you let it take over & block your opportunities. Fear is normal, good even. It shows you know there are some risks at hand, that your life WILL change, & that responsibility comes with that. Don't get down the road & wonder what could have been. If you feel the people you're in talks with are sound & your heart is telling you to do it, then by all means GO FORTH. hug
heart prince I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it prince heart

Re fear of success, we all have it.

Do it anyway. You're young and able, with no dependents. It's the time we look back on later and either say, "hey, at least I took my shot! I have no regrets!" or "Damn, I wonder what coulda been..."

And since you specifically asked about independent business owners: I am in the process of starting my own business, as is my husband (two separate businesses). I can pinpoint two major factors that pushed me to do it:

1. It's something I truly love and will happily spend my time doing.

2. I hate working for other people and don't want to be exploited anymore.

Good luck. hug

It's okay to be nervous when you are taking it to that next level. Don't let that stop you though. If this is a really good opportunity, just throw yourself into the situation and don't look back.

There's a saying: 'feel the fear and do it anyway'! I think that this applies here. Mate, there's so much shit out there in the world, that I'm just over the moon that someone good has managed to get himself and his hard work recognised thumbs up!

Just go for it, what have you got to loose? Just don't forget us here when you're all 'high falootin' and shit wink

Good luck my friend, keep us posted

Totally agree!

Your fear is your driving force, without it there is no real sense of acheivement.

If you go for it you have already succeded... Too many say "What if?" and live to regret not trying. I used to be one of them.

how have you overcome your regret? did you take those same matters in your hand at a later date?

and to everyone else who i didnt quote? thankyou thankyou thankyou from the bottom of my heart.

when i posted this, i had just gotten a "confirmation" that myself the th interested party were going to actually make good on what he had proposed when i met him. i'm happy to share - since then the fear has gone down some, even tho i still have a bit of nerve in my gut...everything tells me that never really goes anywhere.

alot of what you guys have said is very familiar to me and i've even read about much of it in a book called art and fear. i know that fear is inseparable from life (let alone art) and even fuels some of our greatest moments as beings, but seeing the dominos fall down in an orderly fashion is very new and shocking to me. i've been working very hard these last 2 years to rewire my self-image and focus and drive and whatnot- so while i know that fear is the only thing to fear, i still have to cry out about it yaknow?

im not TOO worried...and i REFUSE to stay where i am right now, so ..im gonna make SOMTHING out of this moment

just had to check with ya'll cuz all of yall have come to be a kind of support system in "me just being who i am" yaknow? (i imagine you do) <===[sammi and i were talking about the parallels between the uptopian uptown concept that prince always campaigned, at least in song, and how instinctually close knit his fan community seems to be or feel at least]

anyway...yeah...fear not gone, but i am noticing im becoming more adept at confronting my fears and working with them ...even when i have cry out moments..

whenever "this project" gets finished (or the first part of it) ...i'll be sure to post it here (tho it'll prob have to be in the org artists forum...maybe i'll figure out a way to sneak it in GD wink )

side not: anyone familiar with BIG HASSLE MEDIA? they also commented on my blog recently and expressed interest in sending me their press releases and updates...i havent responded yet, cuz i like to stop and think about things, but i thought i'd ask

It's a shift in mindset, or at least it was for me.

Keeping things simple helps....

...Regret is in the past and I just let go of it and learned to be more positive in my thinking as a result. It's amazing what you can achieve when you give it a go.

Mistakes are always going to be made at some point... happens to everyone all the time, but if you can accept that you're well on the way to overcoming fears. In fact you relish the challenge despite the stress.

Everyone can go further to achieving their dreams and set new goals as they go.
