"Luke & Leia" - my latest short film After all this time, I finally have a result.
I'm hoping this makes it as a finalist in Atom.com's Star Wars Fan Film contest this year. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Everyone's a critic when you're online...
A+ for effort C+ for the end results The editing could have been tighter, the actors could've been more animated in their delivery (less wooden) and the shots could've been less static (think Tarantino's angles) but then again, what do I know... A working class Hero is something to be ~ Lennon

Funny concept
the acting could use a lot of work, and the dialogue - as informal as you want it to sound, doesn't sound natural and comes off as being read rather than actually spoken i would cut down the credits to under 2minutes and give the story a tad more room to breathe different camera shots would be great, closeups of the two speakers, etc. (especially more when dude with black eye tries to show it off in his emo way lol) could you possibly include some star wars imagery in your film instead of just talking about it? i kept hoping that when he pulled out in his car that there would be some crazy effect making it look like it was hovering like Luke's ride did [Edited 4/30/09 8:58am] [...i think i can, i think i can, i think i can...]

There we go! Constructive criticism!
There were a few things in the editing that bothered me for which I just couldn't do anything with. Kinda wish I had another camera operator at the time, but it's a little late for that now. As for the actors, well, I'm not working with professionals, but I think they did a satisfactory job being this is something home-grown. They took over for the original two people I had wanted to play the parts, and it's tough to say who would have done better. Marshall had it rough trying to get through the continuous dialog I gave him, so yeah... he's reading off a cue card for a portion of that. However, it also reminds me of some of the dialog Jeff Anderson had to deliver in "Clerks" for which it looks like he's reading off of a cue card as well. As for the camera angles, they're static because I was shooting in the Kevin Smith style (which is, as he put it, no style at all) so it would make that connection to "Clerks" and Kevin's way of doing it and hopefully trying to imagine Dante and Randal in place of Matthew and Marshall. I also wanted to take a departure from "Yoda's Treasure" and get away from the Star Wars imagery for this one, hence the absence of it here. We'll get a bit more of the imagery in the next project Thanks for the comments!

After a few people have suggested that the intro be trimmed down, I went ahead and did it as well as getting the aspect ratio better for the widescreen YouTube viewer (can't really tell here in the embedded viewer, though).
