As someone who traveled quite a bit when he was younger, I would say that the same "broadening" can be achieved via books, documentaries and Ye Olde Internete.
For example, I could've saved myself a lot of time, energy and money if I'd just googled "Are English people weird?". | |

Vienna Austria looks stunning in photos taken by other ppl but it will mean so much more when I am standing there taking my own photos. | |
