You get used to the touchscreen. My only real complaint is that the big, wide exposed screen just screams "Crack me! Crack me!" I bought an iSkin with a thin film to cover the screen, though, and I've had not so much as a scratch. There also are some pretty cool skins that come with a sort of flap cover.

Always put it in your pocket with the screen to your leg/body.

You won't have any problems then.

Definitely a good idea. I'm also trying to get in the habit of placing it face-down on tables, etc.

I don't personally know anyone whose iPhone screens have cracked, but I've read online that it happens occasionally, and it looks awful.

I love my iPhone. Got the white 3G and use it every day. Love the apps feature of it. Favorite apps are White Noise, MapMyRun and TwitterFon. I've never had a Blackberry, but friends of mine have given the Storm bad reviews.

Apple and Verizon in talks to distribute iPhone in 2010, report says [LINK]

AT&T should be worried if, indeed, Apple is talking to Verizon about distributing iPhones.

Last week AT&T (T) said it sold 1.6 million iPhones in the first three months of 2009 and there were reports that it was talking to Apple (AAPL) about extending its exclusive agreement to sell the iPhone.

Now, Apple and Verizon (VZ) reportedly are in talks to create an iPhone for Verizon customers, with the goal of selling it next year, according to USA Today.

As someone who regretfully left Verizon's service and switched to AT&T's network when the iPhone was initially released in 2007, I can say there are many iPhone users who would leave AT&T for Verizon's network.

AT&T needs to continue improving its service network. Otherwise, if the USA Today report proves to be true, it will lose customers to Verizon.

Apple would benefit from the rumored deal by selling more iPhones as multiple phone companies would be offering them, much like AT&T and Verizon both sell different versions of Research in Motion's (RIMM) BlackBerry phones.

Verizon, so far, isn't refuting the rumors. "We have no announcements to make today relative to Apple. Historically we have not been dependent upon one device," Verizon COO and President Denny Strigl said during today's Verizon earnings conference call. Verizon is always open to discussions with any suppliers, he added.

According to USA Today's sources, Verizon and Apple management began "high-level" discussions a few months ago, when CEO Steve Jobs was overseeing day-to-day business. The sources declined to be named because they aren't authorized to speak publicly, the report said. The conversations have continued while Jobs has been on medical leave, the sources said. Apple declined comment about the story.

Apple would gain access to its 80 million customers by connecting with Verizon, Roger Entner, head of telecom research for Nielsen told the USA Today.

"Breaking the (iPhone) exclusivity with AT&T is a huge thing," Entner said. "That would send shivers into AT&T's stock and senior leadership." AT&T's stock was up 21 cents to $25.37 in early afternoon trading today, while Verizon's was down 42 cents to $30.58.

If Apple and Verizon form a venture, it would be a first time Apple created a phone for a CDMA wireless network. AT&T's network uses GSM technology. Apple and Verizon Wireless work together in Europe, where Vodafone, which co-owns Verizon Wireless, sells the iPhone.

For those looking to get a Blackberry, BJ's Warehouse is offering a "Buy 1, get 1 free" promotion. Not sure of the terms, though..

I'm so glad I decided to come to GD today seeing this thread. I have untill January to end my contract but I'm also confused about what's better, the Storm or the iPhone. I have Verizon and the service is great, but it's expensive. I know you have to have AT&T to get the iPhone but I've heard hit and miss stuff on their service.

Then I have the phones. The Storm looks cool but a co-worker of mine has it and she seems to have issues with pressing the buttons on the touch screen. The iPhone seems great too but it really seems to be all about Apps and Games and I don't use them much on the phone I have now. I don't know if I should stick with Verizon and get the Storm, which seems cool or the iPhone, which I really like from what I see but I'd have to go with AT&T. I'm lost with this. neutral

iPhone forces you to use AT&T, so if you need a decent network and fast internet, get a Blackberry on any other network. (Sprint is easily the fastest)

You and me both. I will gimp along with my old Razr until then. nod

I thought about switching to AT&T just to get the iPhone. But I travel a rural highway to and from work and AT&T's network absolutely sucks. I just can't take a chance on getting stranded and not being able to call for help.

Why do some people hate ATT? We had more issues, cell-wise when we had Verizon.

Their network is just really bad up here. There's a good 10-mile stretch on the road I travel where there's no coverage, at all.

I mean...c'mon. Work a deal with someone to use their towers if you don't have your own. That's what Verizon does. They partner with US Cellular in that area...so there's coverage all the way.

That is the exact same reason we couldn't stand Verizon any longer. Up in our first home we could get BARELY a signal and our second home a very weak one. Maybe they've changed since.

Cool to see the IPhone may come to verizon.

I think it all depends on what you use it for. The IPhone's web browser is night and day better than on the Blackberries.
But if you want to stay connected through emails, the blackberries are unsurpassed.
I have a Blackberry curve and i dont think i could ever go back to a regular phone again. You can have your work & personal email sent directly to your Blackberry and notify you as soon as they arrive and send and respond on up tpo 10 diffrent email accouts with attachments pdf's the whole works. Best of all it works perfectly evrytime.
If the new IPhone manages to get push email soon, i will switch, but not till.... well maybe as a secondary phone.

Another thing to remember about the Blackberry is that in addition to your regular phone charges, you must subscribe to blackberry for an additional 29+ dollars depending on your plan.

I agree about internet on an iPhone. I have a Touch and surfing on there is way easier than on my Blackberry. I like the email thing on my phone but I find it's unnecessary. I don't use my Blackberry for business. subscribing to Blackberry is 49 bucks in Chicago.

Don't be confused. Here are your choices...

1) Get a Blackberry and be both unhappy and utterly uncool. no no no!
2) Get an 8GB iPhone for $199 or a 16GB iPhone for $299, and deal with the 2-year ATT contract. shrug
3) Get an uncontracted iPhone either new from Apple (roughly $599 for the 8GB version or $699 for the 16GB) or pre-owned from a private owner (at whatever price you're lucky enough to find and negotiate). Then simply get the phone unlocked from ATT (which is anywhere from free up to about $100, depending on where you take it/who you know). At this point, you can open up an account with any carrier that uses the GSM network and you can pick whatever contract terms suit you. This is pricy at the onset, but offers lots of freedom. thumbs up! One caveat: Unlocking your iPhone will likely void the Apple warrantee, which means you'll need to cover costs if the iPhone ever needs fixed.

Yes Verizon, has two Blackberry plans to choose from, a personal plan for 29 dollars, and one that connects you to your work servers for 49 dollars.
That's an extra 29-49 dollars monthly on top of your regular phone bill.

If you do not really need the email capabilities of a Blackberry, there really is no need to even consider it in my opinion.

I am sure other phones will catch up to the Blackberry email capabilities soon, but in the meantime, thats their forté

I got my iPhone two hours ago, and I'm digging it.

We went to AT&T because it covered the area where our house in New Mexico is, and Verizon (our former carrier), did not.

AT&T has been just fine there, and here in Houston, too.

lol Actually I didn't know there was a subscription fee just to have a damn Blackberry disbelief I may take my silly ass down to TMobile & just get something w/ the keyboard. I don't need all the email capabilities under the sun, but I would like texting & checking email to be easier shrug
