oscar buzz for beyonce's new film "obsessed"....

NOT!!

When wronged wife and crazy lady finally let loose on each other in the film's final scenes, Obsessed becomes a wildly campy and deliciously trashy must-see.

The payoff might be the perfect visceral ending for your aggressive modern woman, but a fine piece of storytelling it is not.

This is one of those impossible horror movies, like the kind about giant radioactive ants or invading aliens who want to steal our water. Lisa is just a crazy psychotic bitch...

Obsessed is best enjoyed as glossy, campy fantasy

Giant Magazine Obsessed is your typical stalker thriller but is horrifically written and terribly overacted. I am bitter I had to pay to see it since it did not screen to critics.

A predictable, trashily entertaining time-filler. There are signs in the first half that it could have been more than that, and this is why disappointment sets in.

The climax arrives in the form of a glorious girl-on-girl smackdown that will someday make a fine clip on YouTube. Until then, do what the actors should've done: hold out for something better.

A trashy, empty calorie thriller that plays with racial bugaboos and DTV slasher conventions for a cheap, conversation-with-the-screen response. Oh my, this picture is junk food, but worse, it's an absolute toothless bore.

You can tell this movie sucks just by watching the trailer. It'll be out of the theaters before you can say Sasha Fierce. I guess we all know which movie will sweep the Golden Raspberry Awards.

And when will Hollywood wake up and realize the bitch can't act.

I know the girl has said she wants to have and Oscar, Emmy, and Tony to add to her Grammys....but, sorry, how am I supposed to appreciate the acting work of a woman who always sounds as if she has a cup of peanut butter in her mouth? She's a great singer, but with that elocution I can barely tolerate her in interviews. I won't pay to see Obsessed, but I'll check it out on dvd...if somebody else has it.

The studios didn't even screen this movie for critics, so you know they knew it stunk. Yet, they also know that interracial twists, girl on girl violence, a leading man who is considered hot (even though he looks weird without his mustache) and a JLo-like juggernaut in the female lead role, could dip into the "Tyler Perry" audience and a teen audience.....which is exactly what looks to have happened:
Most predictions said the movie would open to around $18 million for the entire weekend. Yet it opens with almost $11 million for one day, lol...not bad!!Beyonce has her first legit HIT and is entering into JLo territory.

SATURDAY AM: These kinds of movies are so demeaning to women when the wife and a deranged "other woman" catfight over a man. But there's no denying that female filmgoers love this winning formula. (Remember the big box office of Fatal Attraction?) So it was no surprise to Hollywood that Screen Gems/Sony's Obsessed starring Beyoncé did so well Friday, opening No. 1 to $10.5 million in North American grosses from 2,515 theaters for what could be an overperforming $26M weekend. Amazing, since the studio was expecting only $18M. The pic did best with female audiences under 25, followed by females over 25.

I aint mad at her. If JLo could be seen as a "triple threat" without being able to "sing," Beyonce can be seen as a "tripe threat" without being able to "act." "Obsessed" looks as bad as "Maid in Manhattan" or "The Wedding Planner" and both of those were #1. The only movie I felt Beyonce showed potential in was "Cadillac Records." She had a few scenes that surprised me. "Obsessed" will come and go quickly, but now Matthew will being touting Beyonce's ability to "open a film!!!" Just watch....lol...And yes, the girl needs some elocution classes or something. She talks the same in all her roles which is going to be a real hindrance to her dreams of Broadway and being Barbara Streisand.

I would have a problem with ANYONE trying to break up my marriage, regardless of color. However, I can see where this twist could strike a cord within the black community.

I think the premise in the opposite direction would've been more interesting....only because it's more uncommon....

I wouldn’t mind tearing this apart at home over some homemade popcorn but to pay money, even at a matinee price is not happening. The downside is I miss out on the audience commentary.

And Idris loses major points for this.
