Boo to Miss California

I'm glad she lost - you can't have ignorant views and be a titleholder anymore!

I watched this last night, the last half hour of it anyways...and when I heard her answer, I swear I heard the "gong" from the old "gong show" falloff

Fail.
I'm kind of ashamed of my state with the gay marriage issue. I thought Cali was suppose to be the progressive state. I mean, come on. This is the LAST state I'd expect things like that to come out of.

I don't understand why gay marriages is not legalized in all the states...couples can just leave the state and get married somewhere else.

This is a goddamn beauty pageant, not a presidential debate for god's sake.
They're judged on their tits and ass, not on their brains.

How luxurious that she gets to enjoy the whole Princess dream cuz she's hot. Of course she's going to side with whichever will best suit her own dreams. Still, c-u-n-t.

Well, not that I care much about Miss America, but I would much prefer someone who has an opinion on issues, than someone who doesn't...but has nice titties and ass wink

why, because she's going to represent us in Nato discussions?

It's just her opinion. She was asked for it, and she expressed it quite politely and graciously. The recent Prop 8 vote in her state and the rather generous applause she received show she is far from alone.

Um, no confuse Because EVERYONE should have an opinion and if she got up there and said "Umm, I don't know", then I would feel very embarrassed for her. And I would feel sorry for the thousands and thousands of young girls who would look up to her.

my bad, and I apologize. I misread your thoughts. She did express HER opinions, as she was asked, and I wonder if all the contestants were asked the same question

No problem. I don't believe that's the way it works. They are usually asked different questions. That would be too easy.

You're right it is her opinion. It's just hard to hear her say what she did and say "no offense". I would've respected her more if she would've left that out.

It's like "I believe you're going to hell, but no offense."

But she didn't say anything like that. She's in a beauty pageant, where poise and grace and politeness matter--and are judged. I say she navigated a difficult and controversial question the best she could. Of course I disagree with her opinion, but that's beside the point.

I didn't watch the pageant last night, but I remember the same pageant coming on TV last year which I just happened to catch the beginning of because I had been watching something else a few minutes earlier while cooking dinner. At any rate, the pageant came on, and they introduced all of the contestants. Not to say that these women weren't pretty or beautiful (I'm sure they are all quite gorgeous), but just about every single one of them looked exactly the same, had the same makeup, the same hairstyle, the same plastic expression.... it was like looking at a bunch of mannequins. I pretty much changed the channel after that.

nod feel the same about the way she responded. I disagree with her position. But she expressed her opinion as she was asked to. She told the truth about how she felt. She could possibly have given some BS answer the way I hear a lot of politicians do that is neither here nor there, but she didn't do that, and I respect that.

Efan is correct. In pageants it is poise and a complete answer which address the question directly that earn you points.
She technically did very well, actually, even if her opinion sucks big donkey balls.

So if Perez Hilton was a judge and he's now going around runnin his mouth that her answer on Gay Marriage cost her the crown...does that open things up for Miss California to contest (not that she will, but who knows) the outcome?

Judges are not really supposed to score on whether THEY agree with a contestants answer but how it was delivered.

Of course it happens, but they usually don't go on tv the next day saying they did so. confused
