Yet you feel they are treating you like a little kid instead of a grown-ass woman. Hmmm. It doesn't seem that bad, Missfee. I agree with you in the sense that a warm atmosphere is a good working atmosphere, but it shouldn't be a priority esp in this day & age where economic misfortunes are running rampant. These days I'm VERY content. I don't need to see no parties, I could care less if I got outta my workplace without friends and I certainly don't mind wearing a boring getup for afew hours,,,,,the fact that I'm working is comforting to me. And anyway, its temporary to me, which is even for the better if there's no emotional attachments involved.

psychodelicide said: heartbeatocean said: um...so all female bosses are bitches and all male bosses are really cool That's absurd and almost discredits your complaints in my book. BUT these rules are idiotic and speak to the incompetent management style of your superiors. Your director is on a control trip, she's afraid of her "underlings" and doesn't know how to treat and respect people as her equals because she is insecure and needs the power boost of telling others how to behave. I'm not saying that ALL female bosses are bitches, I'm sure there probably are some who are not bad to work with. But, unfortunately, the vast majority of females that I have worked for have been bitchy and difficult to be around. More often than not, the coworkers who reported to the same woman boss that I did also had issues, so I know it was not just me who was having difficulty dealing with an alpha female boss. I have had bad experiences working with female bosses, and that has kind of left a sour taste in my mouth. Some women don't like working for females, and some do, everybody is different. What works for one person may not always work for another. [Edited 4/23/09 23:11pm] I prefer working with women now at my age. Most of my bosses are women, as well as my co-workers (I freelance at different organizations). But male or female, I have always gotten along with bosses pretty well.

And anyway, its temporary to me, which is even for the better if there's no emotional attachments involved. I sort of agree with this. I have noticed that many of my predecessors and replacements have had HUGE struggles with my bosses, when I didn't. I work with people's finances, so there is a lot of touchy, sensitive, emotional material involved. I think I tend to show respect for my bosses and their quirks, and assume they know what their doing, no matter how it differs from my way of doing things. I try to perform the job the way THEY like it to the best of my ability. I've had some pretty lame situations, but I make sure I get paid for every minute I work, and then when the situation doesn't improve, I leave. But I ALWAYS leave on good terms, and it is ALWAYS my choice, not theirs, and I get great recommendations -- even from employers I despised . It's a great pattern to follow, and you can only move up to better things that way. Maintain a spirit of service and humility, then look for something better!

KatSkrizzle said: We get treated like children at my job. The activities are child like. Like making easter bags with crayons and going outside to look for eggs. I'm a GROWN ASS woman. Management fucked with me cause i had a bad atitude about it. I refused to participate.
My job is all rules...they wouldn't know what to do without them. This recession is bringing the asshole out of the already asshole bullshit jobs we people need to work because we can't find work anywhere else. My boss tells us everyday how many people were laid off in my city and then proceeds to fuck with us. It is what it is. I'm walking the straight line and waiting for my firing so that I can collect unemployment and focus all my energy on finding "real" work. I suggest the same for anyone in similar situations. Your boss is surely one nasty mind-games nutter. I wish you find a job that respects you and truly values your work.

Glad I work in employment law - I know my rights - and they know I know my rights.
In Britain we are a very protected society - have to go through processes for letting employees go. Disability discrimination Sex discrimination Constructive dismissal (which is what your case would come under) Compromise Agreements and many more..... It is quite hard to get the sack here in England You can be fired within a year but they would have to give you a good reason after a year they have to go through a legal process or you can sue their ass off!! Even in redundancy cases if they do not go through the legal process you can sue them! "I may not agree with what you say but I'll fight for your right to say it"
Be proud of who you are not what they want you to be...

sorry you don't like your job. it is sort of insane when employers get to the extremes. i'm not allowed to have anyone at my desk because managers that pass by complain that we're not busy enough...like they can tell if it's work related or not from the hallway. My kitty wants to play...
