I hate my fucking job!!! So I get a job to avoid getting laid off from my previous job, and now this one sucks ass! I think they are trying to sabotage me and force me to curse them out so that they can fire me or something....trust me, I use to think I was just paranoid, but when mgmt starts making up bogus rules that aren't in the policy...for example, you can't sit in the chairs placed outside of your supervisor's door to ask your supervisor a question because the "director" of the dept considers that "wasting company time", can somebody please tell me what isn't more rediculous than that? That is so petty. So I have to keep buzzing my supervisor's phone until they answer so that I can ask if they are available for me to ask a question? I have never heard of such, i've always been able to walk to my supervisor's office and wait outside the door to ask a question if they were with someone already. Next, I came in the office wearing a hat that matched my outfit, it was a professional outfit, it was one of those hats that looks like a train conductor hat, but its cut you know....anywho, I get called in the office on the 4th or 5th time I've worn the hat with the outfit and they say "umm you can't wear that hat anymore because the director doesn't like it...it doesn't comply with the dress code"....WTF? No wearing hats on the 4th floor isn't even in the written dress code...yet others can do it? There's my rant for the day. [Edited 4/23/09 19:57pm] I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

So you hate your job because they don't let you have birthday parties or wear train conductor hats.
Yet you feel they are treating you like a little kid instead of a grown-ass woman. Hmmm. The Normal Whores Club

There's my rant for the day. [Edited 4/23/09 19:57pm] I would think waiting outside your supervisor's door may be okay if it's like a minute or two, but anything longer, just come back. Or why not send her(?) an email saying, "Could you please let me know when you have a minute, I have some questions." Re: the hat. That doesn't seem too unusual to me. Most offices that I know of don't allow hats. (And I've worked at museums, which have very lax dress codes.) They should have told you the first time you wore it, and the policy should be uniformly enforced though. Is there anything in your employee handbook about dating co-workers? Generally, it's frowned upon if one of the people is the supervisor to the other. Celebrating birthdays and holidays is not really work related. When I worked for the federal government the company wouldn't even pay for food for a holiday party, we had to have potluck. The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

We get treated like children at my job. The activities are child like. Like making easter bags with crayons and going outside to look for eggs. I'm a GROWN ASS woman. Management fucked with me cause i had a bad atitude about it. I refused to participate.
My job is all rules...they wouldn't know what to do without them. This recession is bringing the asshole out of the already asshole bullshit jobs we people need to work because we can't find work anywhere else. My boss tells us everyday how many people were laid off in my city and then proceeds to fuck with us. It is what it is. I'm walking the straight line and waiting for my firing so that I can collect unemployment and focus all my energy on finding "real" work. I suggest the same for anyone in similar situations.

Most states DO NOT pay you unemployment if you are fired for misconduct which sounds like what they're trying to set up here.

I'm not saying that ALL female bosses are bitches, I'm sure there probably are some who are not bad to work with. But, unfortunately, the vast majority of females that I have worked for have been bitchy and difficult to be around. More often than not, the coworkers who reported to the same woman boss that I did also had issues, so I know it was not just me who was having difficulty dealing with an alpha female boss. I have had bad experiences working with female bosses, and that has kind of left a sour taste in my mouth. Some women don't like working for females, and some do, everybody is different. What works for one person may not always work for another. [Edited 4/23/09 23:11pm] RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I really feel for you and sometimes feel like shit at my job, but I couldn't help but laugh at some of it. Can I see the hat? I can see why it's upsetting, but in the future, it just might be funny though I know what it's like being misunderstood all the time at work.
