Its never right to outwardly make fun of someone's body size in a manner that's hurtful but its natural for people to react and think that one might not be healthy when most others who share the same body type are also unhealthy. And also, many unhealthy people are in denial about being unhealthy. Common retorts:
I'm not anorexic, I just have a high metabolism I'm not obese, I'm just big boned.

i think she has truly convinced herself of it though. look at her face when she's talking. you CANNOT tell this child otherwise. shoot i'm even believing her myself after seeing the interview. it's a tough call. but watching her on that runway made me nervous for her like she was about to fall over or something

Yah she's on the thin side but it's not such a travesty in the modelling industry it's common. I've seen thinner and personally was thinner then her at one stage in my life that lasted 7 years. I commend those that do get past it and remain at a HEALTHY weight range.

A Miss Universe contest has been thrown into controversy with doctors and dieticians complaining a leading finalist was "skin and bones" and dangerously malnourished. Sydney model Stephanie Naumoska, 19, was one of 32 contestants from more than 7,000 hopefuls to make the glittering final at an event promoting "healthy, proportioned, bodies". But pictures of a gaunt Naumoska posing in a red string bikini sparked controversy.
Health professionals said Naumoska, who is 1.8 m (5 ft 11 in) tall and weighs just 49 kg (108 lbs), had a body mass index of just 15.1, well under the official 18 benchmark for malnutrition. "She would be categorised as underweight and I would certainly want to be doing an assessment of her diet to make sure she doesn't have some type of eating disorder," dietician Melanie McGrice told local newspapers. "She needs blood tests, diet analysis and an overall assessment." Pageant director Deborah Miller said brunette Naumoska, who was defeated in the final by 20-year-old television presenter and model Rachael Finch, had Macedonian heritage, which accounted for her extreme thinness. "They have long, lithe bodies and small bones. It is their body type, just like Asian girls tend to be small," Miller said. But Australian Medical Association president Rosanna Capolingua, whose organisation represents Australian doctors, said the contest should impose a minimum BMI cut-off of 20. "The most unhealthy part about it, though, is the image it is showing other young women who may view this as normal, when clearly it's not," Capolingua said. http://www.metro.co.uk/news [Edited 4/23/09 9:02am] This doesn't look right to me at all. the camera adds 10 lbs...in person she will look much thinner than here. I have spent almost half of my adult life working in fashion and advertising from Mondadori Publications, to G&J, many other publishing houses...honestly if a girl showed up at this height and weight for an assignment she would be sent home and her booker would be chewed out, or they would eat the cost and not use her and she would be left sitting in the rv...thin is thin, and yes, sadly still preferred in creative fields, but something here is not right. Political correctness be damned, something here is.not.right. I've worked with waay to many 1st tier fashion girls who are naturally thin with healthy appetites, vs. those same girls who are clearly sick, or have heroin scars all over the place with scratching fits, or alcoholic shakes....no I'm not buying it...something is wrong here.

It is a travesty when they are seen as role models to young impressionable girls and teens who believe to be beautiful you have to be this thin.. I will love you forever and you will never be forgotten - L.A.F. ![]()
