Have you seen Minneapolis? It had Problems long before this article pointed things out!

Spring doesn't start there until April or May. WTF?

Wait...what's "a dump" - Minneapolis, or Popeye's? Minneapolis has its good and not so good parts, just like any other large city. But a dump? No. I've lived her for 35 years and I like it here.

Sometimes it snows in April.

But it's supposed to be 82 degrees here (Mpls) today!

I think MPLS is pretty cool for a midwestern town in the middle of nowhere... with a brutal winter... and a Republican governor. confused

I guess they just reeeaaally like their chicken. shrug

But in the city of Minneapolis itself, Republicans rarely even get on the ballot. Last time I voted for mayor there were 2 dems and a green party candidate on there. nod

The republicans generally don't do well here overall. We've had a weird anomoly of guv Pawlenty and that wacko Michelle Bachmann (who represents a district in the 'burbs, btw) over the last few years to deal with. confused

OK... You guys are obviously cooler than I give you credit for.

A chicken riot is messed up, though. You know that, right? lol

...Maybe not as messed up as setting your river on fire 13 times redfacedisbelief, but it's messed up.

He used to come into the coffee shop I worked at when I was moonlighting last year. He was very nice but never tipped. neutral

it was strange cause after Oprah on channel 4 news, they referred to the election for Senate as a "Contest", I thought what shame that our electoral processes openly considered a game

Thank you. Minneapolis has been good to me for 30 years. I love me some Minneapolis. Heck, I would say that we have a lovely city.

I joke, but I think Minneapolis is actually pretty cool. I could easily live there for a stretch. My first impression is that the downtown could be a bit more lively, but it's got some great little artsy districts, a nice natural landscape, an unusually diverse mix of ethnicities for its locations, and the city is well educated, healthy (according to stats)... and historically liberal to boot! woot!

And anyplace that gives birth to both Prince and Bob Dylan has got some good energy going on.

Not to mention the fact that Minnesota has the longest current streak of awarding its electoral college votes to the Democratic presidential candidate (not counting DC). It last went for a Republican in 1972, when every state but Mass went for Nixon. In 1984, every state except Minnesota (and DC) went for Reagan. Of course, the Democrat that year was Mondale (a Minnesotan) and he did not win by very much. I thought it was funny early in the election season when McCain was claiming that he would be competitive in Minnesota. I knew he was fooling himself, and he ended up losing by double digits.
