A number 1 pick on a QB seems very risky 4 a team like the Lions. I think so too....they've got way more to worry about...they should consider trading down for the opportunity of more picks... my fear, and I'm partial as UGA fan, is that Stafford would go there, be behind a less than stellar offensive line and have his ass handed to him...thus giving all the anti-Stafford folks out there more ammuniton for their dislike of him and his ability...

I will be glued to my tube on Saturday... According to the experts, this draft isn't strong on blue-chip defensive players. It's geared more towards WRs and offensive tackles. Depends on your needs. The DE pool is really deep. There's about 5 or 6 ends that are bonafide first rounders. Not to say they'll get selected there but they have first round talent. LB's are pretty deep as well.

We needs help on OL, DL, and CB but we got to shore up that offensive line early through the draft so we can improve our short yardage offense particularly inside the 10. We stunk last season in that area. Can't wait to get mendenhall that rock next season. Agreed. A good offensive line would also help the running game which has been lacking lately.

All it would appear that the Saints need is a good CB/Safety or another young stud LB...our DL is strong and picking up Jabari Greer and Darren Sharper has helped...but I'm not with all of the naysayers who say that Reggie Bush is a bust...his career rushing AVG is 3.7 yard/carry...and lots of the pundits say that because he's not averaging 4 yds/carry, he's a bust....but from a purely mathematical perspective, are we really saying that another foot (.3 yards = 1 foot) is the difference between pedestrian and elite in the NFL? Beanie Wells is a good back, but he's not the answer for the Saints...the FB we got from New England IS our A.I....he is our answer for those short yardage situations..the Saints have the best offense in the league, period!! With a servicable D, there's no stopping them!! **disclaimer** previous statements are based solely upon the wishes and dreams of a long-suffering New Orleanian who is depressed watching his Hornets getting schooled, and just wishes for some shread of hope from his long-suffering football team...**disclaimer** He was like a cock who thought the sun had risen to hear him crow.

IMO, Reggie Bush is being utilized the wrong way. He's more of an all-purpose back than a dude that'll give you 25+ carries a game. Use him the way Philly uses Westbrook or how the Giants used Tiki. Throw him those little passes in the flats and let him do his thing.

He's going to begin to utilized more that way with the emergence of Pierre Thomas. Thomas is also the primary reason Deuce McAllister became expendable. Thomas is more of a north/south runner. He gets yards after contact and won't wear down as easily as Bush. There's not a linebacker or safety in the league who can cover Bush. You stick him in the slot and a defense has to commit a corner to him, which also spreads the defense and offers more open lanes to Thomas. If New Orleans uses Bush right, that offense could become even scarier than they were last season.

You're not going to slow peyton manning down by getting reggie bush. You slow manning down with a pass rush and although that didn't pay dividends in year one look at what williams is doing now. Bush is not an every down back but is a good all purpose back. I was pissed off a couple of years back in the playoff game versus the bears when they forced fed the ball to bush and ignored deuce. The chiefs traded tony gonzalez to the atlanta falcons for a
second round pick this year. Atlanta will be playing in a super bowl in 2 to 3 years. Had to fix it. The carolina panthers just gave jake delhomme a 5 year extension. I can't wait to listen to the local sports radio show here tomorrow. [Edited 4/23/09 19:18pm] Don't laugh at my funk

The Seattle Seahawks have the 4th pick in the first round of this year's NFL Draft and speculation is high on who will be selected. A quick scan of eight cyberspace mocks has the Seahawks selecting one of six players: USC QB Mark Sanchez, Texas Tech WR Michael Crabtree, Virginia OT Eugene Monroe, Georgia RB Knowshon Moreno, Baylor OT Jason Smith, or Georgia QB Matthew Stafford.

You hit it right on the head....if they didn't spend all game trying to find all kinds of off the wall ways to get him the ball, he'd probably get the yardage they'd need. I don't agree with the every down back thing, though...in games where they got him the ball more than 10 times and with some semblance of flow, kid averages about 6 yards a pop. Add in the screens in the flats, the swing passes, and the punt returns, and he is a serious weapon. The problem is that Sean Peyton is in love with his magnificance, and eventually, he always decides to get cute in a game and it usually costs them dearly. He was like a cock who thought the sun had risen to hear him crow.

According to WFAN's Carl Banks, Bey runs a 4.2, faster than Crabtree. You know Al wants speed for his vertical passing game.
